you can't put a price tag on my life
not because it's too valuable
but because it's worthless
i hold it in as much regard
as a gum wrapper
i use my phone at the gas station
and walk on the outside of the sidewalk
i don't look both ways before crossing
and slip my toes over the edge
i lean too far over the railing
and leave my front door unlocked
i leave my seat belt unbuckled
and take one pill too much
