25. Scenery That Creates You

The chirping canaries woke me up, and there was this dazzling light piercing through the inner curtains, making the entire room bright. I dragged my vision to my right side; the crumpled bedsheets, wondering where Marvel left so early in the morning despite the day off.

I sat and moved the blanket aside. The pajama attached to my body surely belonged to him. Even though I didn't wear the pants, its length was enough to cover my thighs.

I looked at my surroundings. Marvel's bedroom was just like another house inside his house; the bedroom had those double-styled doors similar to the main door of the mansion. I noticed, the most important rooms in his house; his bedroom, his office, had that kind of entrance. Also, by the fireplace sat a set of couches with a table that looked so fine to chat with some intimate guests, another door leading to the bathroom along with the restroom, and across the bulletproof window, there was a giant bookshelf by the wall.

He doesn't look like someone fond of reading, so I wonder why his house has so many books.

Ready to get down from the bed, I was surprised when my bare foot touched the cold floor. But, what shocked me even more was when I abruptly fell to my knees as I tried to step, lacking the power to prop my own body as my legs felt weak, trembling as I realized something.

"I..." I mumbled in dread, gulping hard, my hands balling into fists on the floor to support my weight. "I won't do it in that position... Ever again..."

I understood that we finally had sex after a long while. Still, I couldn't tolerate the cramping pain I got because he overdid it.

In the end, whether he did it on purpose or not, I couldn't blame him because it was me who provoked him first.

As I slightly heard the gleeful chirps outside, I wobbly walked approaching the window to peek. My fingers softly brushed the curtains aside and the glow flashed, blasting into the room to reach every part, making me narrow my eyes, even I had to lift my hand to block the beam.

When my vision had adjusted with the new brightness, I blinked in astonishment when I found the scenery far in front of me; the vast greenery of grassland and a lotus pond in the mansion backyard I never knew about.

The garden was a shade brighter in the sun. It was as if the gift from the sky wasn't light, but magic, conjuring the earth to summon what was there all along; the nature in a humble brilliance; the buttercups became a golden carpet, the verdure of every dreamer's meadow, the waves of wind met the bursts of birdsong rejoicing the occasion under the daylight.

Indeed, I thought to myself, the boss' room is no joke. It's the widest, the safest, and even it has the prettiest view.

My eyes captured the extravagant look of Marvel's back, standing alone in front of the red lotus pond as the ray washed him, creating a slender shadow behind his feet. The breeze touched his light grey hair, blowing it in slow motion.

He was watching the flowers blossom, lost in the rhythmic percussion of insects on the pistils. His head steady to the horizon, his face aglow with the first yellow gleam. His breath was calm, just enough to show that he was enjoying his thoughts, whatever they may be. I didn't call him nor let him feel my presence, just allowing him to stay in the moment a while longer.

"He looks so quiet. Beautifully quiet under the warmth of sunlight," I mumbled absent-mindedly, the recalled image re-emerging in my head. "Crimson lotus, huh..."

Lotus is planted deep in the mud of a calm water source. From its root grows a long stalk that remains in the murky water. From the top of the stem produces the plant's leaves and bud. The bud is the part that is seen from above the water surface. As the bud begins to open, its petals are exposed; that's when the colors of the flower become apparent. Those petals will begin to open one by one, slowly welcoming the warmth of the sun. Once fully opened, the Lotus is in full bloom.
