Jessica was staring at her and she couldn't help it! She was staring at the girl who was living her life with the man that she loved. Envy inched it's way into her heart, she wanted what the other girl had in her arms, literally. She wanted what Happy had in her arms. She wanted Jay. They were on the field celebrating the school's soccer team's victory. Every soccer player was with in someone's arms and Jay was in Happy's arms. She'd come to know a lot about happy. She'd had Btee and Bellow spy on her. She wanted to know, she need to know what made Jay love her so much. Her heart bled just then. They embraced each other longer than any other couple and it bugged her. The team came looking for their captain so Happy had to let go of Jay at that point. They celebrated and she was happy for them but she felt like stabbing someone, Happy to be precise.
But she was nice, Jessica acknowledged wryly. She'd come to know her. It was hard to hate her because she was such an amazing person. She looked around for Happy and couldn't find her.
"Hey stranger!"- a cheerful voice came from behind her. She turned to find Happy and her friends there.
"Hi, I haven't seen you in a while"- she lied, she always saw her, she just never saw Jessica.
"A bunch of us are going to celebrate, you wanna come with?"- she smiled, it was warm and Jessica could see why Jay wanted her, who wouldn't want her? She was smart, beautiful and polite. Her "always ready" smile made everyone feel at ease around her.
"No, Dylan is gonna be here any minute now to fetch me."- Jessica kindly declined. She noticed something though, Happy's reaction to Dylan's name.
"Where are your friends?"- she asked. Jessica got the impression that Happy was avoiding talking about Dylan.
"They went to get some drinks for the road." Jessica scanned the crowd for them. "Oh they are coming our way"
"Okay well. See you around Jessica!"- happy smiled as she went back to her friends. Happy's friends didn't like her. She could tell by the way they glared at her. But Happy always accommodated her, she appreciated it.
"What was that about?"-Btee asked when she and Bellow got to Jessica.
"What? Happy?"
Btee nodded. "Yeah, what were you talking about?"
"She invited me to go to an after party, that's all"- Jessica shrugged.
"I'm guessing you said no."
"Yeah I didn't wanna intrude, her friends don't like me much"- she informed her friends . "But if you guys wanna go then it's cool. Dylan is gonna be here anyway"
"Are you sure? We could stay with you and..."
"No, you guys can go. I will be fine." She wanted them to go Bellow had been looking forward to this. She liked Chris, Jay's bestfriend.
"Go! I'm gonna be fine, really."
"Fine, we will see you on Monday then."- Btee said. They embraced each other and the girls left.
The field was empty now. People were heading to the after party. She wanted to go but it would hurt her too much to see Jay and Happy together. She hated that she felt so strongly about Jay. Hated that she was being so naive and stupid. How could he love her when he had Happy? He was a grade older than her, he barely noticed her. She loved someone who would never love her back.
Tears sprang from the back of her eyes. She wouldn't cry. But it was too late.
"Why won't he love me? Is there something wrong with me?"- she screamed!
"Well if you ask me he is a fool!"- someone answered her. She froze.
She hadn't realized how far she walked into the field until she heard the voice. She knew it was him. She didn't even need to turn she could feel him.
"You don't know him."- she told him.
"Well he isn't treating you right that's what makes him an idiot." - he took a step toward her. "He doesn't deserve you if he makes you cry."
She let out a soft sob. She turned and he was close, too close. She couldn't look at him without giving herself away. He put his fingers under her chin so that she could look at him.
"I think it would have been better if we'd just bumped into each other like the last time"- he smiled teasingly. She couldn't help it, she smiled as well. Her cheeks turning pink.
"I agree." She looked at him at that moment. And it felt good, she thought. To just look at him. The cool night breeze blew and she remembered that her face wet with her tears.
"Arg! I'm a mess" she turned away from him.
There was silence... And then more silence.
"No you are not! You are beautiful actually."
She turned so fast she thought she'd heard something snap in her body.
"What?"- she'd heard him, she just couldn't believe he'd said it.
He closed the small distance that was between them and cupped her face. Her heart dropped to her toes. She smelled his cologne, he'd taken a shower after the match.
"Aren't you supposed to be at some after party celebrating your victory"- she asked him, his eyes never leaving hers.
His lips hovered above hers, "they won't miss me." And then his lips touched hers, gently. He taunted her, using his lips. She'd always thought people only used they tongues and it disgusted her, this was way better. His arms snaked around her waist and pulled her closer. She felt the heat of him, of his body and she sought that warmth out. She pressed her body into his. He groaned deep in his throat, he approved. Jessica let her arms come up to his chest. Feeling the hard contours of his chest, he was all man and she loved it. She wrapped her arms around his neck and angled her face for a better fit. The kiss had turned passionate and fierce. He cupped her bottom and it was her turn to whimper. Their lips were moving like they'd been doing this from since they were born. She didn't want it to end, her first kiss.
"What the fuck?"- an enraged voice came from behind Jay. She hid her face in the crock of his neck. Breathing hard. They'd heard the voice but they were just recuperating from their steamy session. She loved being in his arms. The smell of him. The strength of him. She loved him.
And suddenly he was being wrenched away from her.
"Dylan!!"- Jessica screamed. They were fighting. Punches been thrown. "Stop please!"
"What were you doing to my sister?" Dylan asked Jay between punches.
"Please stop!!!!"- she pleaded with them. She saw a group of guys run toward them, they broke up the fight.
"I didn't know she was your sister!"
"Let go of me!"- Dylan demand and the guys that held him let go. "Stay away from my sister, you bastard! Have I made myself clear?"
The moment Dylan said that Jay's eyes rested on Jessica. She looked at him back. He was still being held back but he'd stopped struggling. "As water!"-Jay answered but he didn't take his eyes off her and she didn't take hers of him. But his were cold. He didn't seem to mind that this would never happen again.
"Jess, let's go!"
Her first kiss had become the worst experience ever! She looked back at Jay as she walked to the parking lot. Happy was with him now, cleaning the blood from his mouth. She didn't cry but she would, in the safety of her own room.
