Galaxy Girl woke up to this strange gnawing feeling in the depths of her chest. A feeling, a new emotion she had never experienced before, ever in her life. It didn't hurt, but it for some unexplainable reason it bothered her. Something felt wrong.

She blinked her eyes open to find herself curled tightly up beside her nemesis; sleeping face forward on his chest, with one leg linked around his knee. Galaxy gasped, surprised at what she was doing. Toxic was waking up as well, eyes slowly opening, his black makeup smudged badly, staring cautiously back at her. Wordlessly they held each other's gaze. She knew she should have gotten out of bed. She really should have, but she didn't. Instead she slid her hand over his torso and snuggled closer, burying her face into his bare chest.

What are you doing?! Her conscious mind yelled at her. This is sacrilege! It continued, her brain was screaming at her to stop. The hero in her wanted nothing more than to slap a pair of handcuffs on him and haul his evil rear straight to jail. And although her brain was screaming at the top of its figurative lungs, her body didn’t even give it any audience. On and on, she continued with what she was doing; and strangely, it felt like the safest experience she’d ever had.

Her body liked the contact, in fact it craved it. Ever since that hug on the airplane, this craving had been lurking, hidden somewhere in the back of her mind. Instead of slinking away or freaking out like she was nearly positive he would, he somehow managed to surprise her totally with his actions.

He curled his arm around her waist, pulled his nemesis closer, and rested his cheek against the top of her head. This was all shades of wrong, yet it felt so right.
"Are you okay?" His voice gently cooed. It was in a tone that dripped with immensely genuine concern.

"I don't know. I guess so..."  Galaxy sighed.
"Having you here helps."  She added, tilting her head back to glare into his eyes.
"Thank you. For last night, for saving me back in Stark City. For coming all the way out here to help me.... You've been like… my guardian angel."
She admitted sarcastically.
"Not the type of thing a world class supervillain wants to hear...." He laughed sleepily.
"But I'll take." He began to play with a ringlet of her hair, twirling it around his fingers.

"You look terrible. All those tears ruined your makeup." He chuckled, as he suddenly snapped out of his sleep for a moment to stare into her eyes.  "Speak for yourself. You look like a drowned raccoon." She retorted playfully, as he really did look like that particular roadkill. Galaxy Girl closed her eyes and leaned back onto him; not quite ready to get up just yet.

"TV on." She heard him order to the voice-controlled flat screen. It powered on and the first thing she saw upon reopening her eyes was her father, standing on a podium, making an announcement. To his left was Katharina, the purple skinned, teleporting hero from beneath the surface of the earth. Beside her stood the Mayor and standing to her father's right was a solemn faced Dauntless, eyes cast to the ground.

"Today marks one week since the death of my daughter Galaxy girl; the protector of Stark City." Announced Captain Galaxy, rather despondently as French subtitles played at the bottom of the screen. "As a hero, I know my daughter understood the risks that came with being a guardian of this city, or this planet." He spoke, his platinum blonde hair glowing in the warm sunlight.
"But as a father, I mourn the loss of my only child." He sighed sadly.
"And I, along with the rest of The Peace League, will keep to our vow to bring these villains to justice." The camera then faded away to capture the speech of a pretty, dark haired French reporter, standing on the steps of city hall, speaking in French.
"English subtitles." asked Toxic of the TV. Instantly letters of translation appeared at the bottom of the screen.

"As you can see, The American Hero 'Captain Galaxy' has vowed to avenge the death of his daughter by the new-to-the-scene villains 'Quickstep' and 'ChaCha'. The world villain association, 'Syndicate Of Extraordinary Supervillains' have yet to release a statement."

"TV off!"  She shouted, not wanting to hear anymore of it. Without another word, Galaxy rolled out of bed and stormed into the bathroom; her emotions a mixture of anger and disappointment in herself. She ignored Toxic’s voice on the other side of the door, asking her if she was alright and telling her not to blame herself.
“Of course it's my fault, who else is there to blame?!?” She yelled at herself angrily in a fit of rage. The angry hero stripped off all of her clothes, determined to shower with the hottest water possible; willing the water to wash away the events of last night; the brick dust and debris in her hair as well as the memory of Dauntless's hands on her.

A/N: Happy Saturday guys.
16 hour work day for me, but hopefully going to a party later.
I'm trying to get back into posting little snippets of myself and life here in the comments like I used to, but for the last few months I've just felt kind of numb and detached from everything, so pardon me if these are a little rusty.
But I know you guys are awesome and totally willing to bear... bare (I'm not sure) with me.

Love you all dearly,
