Piper's POV

We reach the top of the staircase and bade Nico, Will Cayden and Divani goodbye. Selena turned to us.

"Okay, so we've got Charms first, then I've got Study of Ancient ruins. What about you?"
I looked down at the paper in my hands. "Uh, we've got Arithmancy." I looked up at Hazel, who shrugged. Selena frowned. "Haven't you done that before?" Oh shoot.
"Um, not really?" I looked at Hazel in a silent plea for help.
"We started it, but it isn't that hard. Besides, we're fast learners." Selena let out a chuckle.
"I'm sure you are." she said smiling. "I'll ask if anyone else is going there after class. Maybe we can find you a guide."

We reached Charms, and entered through the heavy door to see a few people had already sat down. We made out way to the front of the Ravenclaw side, Griffindors sitting on the other.

"Hello class!" called a squeaky voice from the front of the class. I turned around to see, an dwarf? Professor Flitwick was smaller than I'd noticed at breakfast, and was standing on a tall pile of books to see over his desk. I leaned over to Hazel.
"Why doesn't he just stand on the desk?"
"I dunno, professionalism?"

"For those of you who are new to Hogwarts, welcome. I know this is a change from when you were being homeschooled, but he-who-must-not-be-named (This took a ridiculously long time to type. Damn you J.K) has given your parents no choice." He smiled sadly at us, apparently being able to distinguish us from his regular students. "However, I'm sure you'll catch up in no time." he said smiling again. "My name is Professor Flitwick, and I am head of Ravenclaw house. Now, today we'll be looking at protection charms. Usually you'd be taught this is defense against the dark arts, but-" he sighed. "-much has changed in regards to that subject." A Griffindor raised their hand. "Yes?"

"Who'll be teaching DADA?" asked a brown haired boy with freckles. Flitwick sighed.
"Amycus Carrow."

..............

Hecate watched the four heroes progress through a small smoke screen. A figure crept up behind her.
"Any luck?" The dark haired goddess shook her head regally. The figure sighed. "I helped you Hecate. You wouldn't have gotten away with this without me." he said impatiently. Hecate sighed, and turned around.

"I told you Dolos, this will take some time. They've only been at the castle for two days. We're lucky they even interacted with Monica yet." she said bitterly. Dolos sighed, and came into the soft light that they screen produced. He had taken the form of a tall man with pale skin. Hecate couldn't see his face, seeing as he was wearing a hooded cloak. The god of trickery leaned forward, resting his spider-like hands on the pedestal underneath the screen.
"I loved her, you know that. She saw through my disguise, but she still loved me."
"I know Dolos."
"I can't let her down again."
"I know Dolos. Elena's niece will be spared, I promise you."

"But how can you know that?" said the god whirling around to face Hecate. His hood had fallen down, revealing his face. He had a strong bone structure, long black hair, and gleaming green eyes. They were filled with desperation. "How can you know she'll escape? How do you know she won't end up like Elena?" he said sadly.

Hecate smiled. "I'm the goddess of crossroads. I know all paths, and I know which ones the demigods should take. If all goes well, Monica will survive the battle."

"If all goes well?"

The titan sighed. "I cannot control the future Dolos. You know this." The god walked up to Hecate, furious.
"You said she'll escape!" he thundered.
"Yes, I did. At the rate the demigods are going, she will escape. But I can't control everything they do, Dolos."
.................

I walked out of Arithmancy with  my palms over my eyes. I was so wrong. That was really hard.

"Don't worry Piper, you'll get used to it!" said Stacy encouragingly. Stacy was a sixth year Ravenclaw as well, and she was one of Selena's friends. "Hazel got on really well after all." I shot a giggling Hazel a death stare. "Aw, thanks Stacy!"

"Whatever." I groaned. "I'm not going to survive another year of that." We followed Stacy through the maze that is Hogwarts, until we reached a familiar staircase that I knew lead to the Great Hall. I grinned.

"Thank god it's lunch." I sighed, dropping down onto one of the benches of the Ravenclaw table. Hazel laughed at my enthusiasm. "We still have afternoon classes, remember?" said Selena sitting down next to Stacy across the table. I groaned, and dumped some salad onto my plate. Stacy looked at me. "Vegetarian?" I nodded. She raised an eyebrow. "Cool."

Hazel looked around at the food on the table. "Hey, what about people with other dietary requirements?" she asked, picking up some chips and passing them to a boy beside her. Selena frowned, and swallowed her mouthful before she answered.

"I'm not sure actually, I suppose they were homeschooled."
"But that would mean they're here now and don't have anything they can eat!" said Hazel looking horrified. A girl with blond hair leaned over the table to us.
"Don't worry. They don't exist." she said nonchalantly. Hazel chocked on her food. "Excuse me?"

She chuckled. "Not like that, calm down. Because of our genetics, we can't have any uh... genetic weaknesses." Piper snorted.
"Honestly, your incapability to understand mor-" Hazel elbowed me. OUCH! "Sorry, Muggle technology is pretty stupid." The girl looked at us in shock, then burst out laughing. "You are so right. But I'm muggle born, so I can understand tech." she said smiling at us. I grinned. "Finally! A smart one!" Hazel glared at me.

"Piper! That isn't very nice!" I rolled my eyes. "Sorry mum." She gave me a deadpanned look, and then returned to her lunch. "Um, Piper Mclean?" I turned around to see a nervous fourth year at my shoulder. "Yes?" he blushed. "I uh, um... A-a guy in Slytherin wanted me to g-give this to you?" he stuttered. I smiled, and took the note. Hazel laughed as he made his way back to the Hufflepuff table.

"Wow, Piper. Looks like your Aphrodite is shining through." she laughed. I looked around the hall nervously, and realised there were quite a few people checking me out. I groaned and turned back to a giggling Hazel. "Shut it diamond." She gave me a toothy grin before taking the note and reading it. Her face lit up.

"The guys figured out a way to talk to Hecate! They said they'll meet us in the corridor by the kitchens at midnight." she said beaming. I smiled. "That's great! Anything else?" She smirked. "Will says that you already have a fanclub." "WHAT!"

I grabbed the note, and sure enough it said that quite a few people had asked the boys whether I was single. I groaned, and shot Will a deathstare across the hall. He and Nico were apparently waiting for my reaction, as when I looked at them, Will grinned, and Nico let out a laugh, falling back into them. Despite the situation, I had to smile at them. It was flattering that people noticed me. Nico and Will turned back to the table, and I saw they were holding hands. By the looks of it, they were arguing about something. I watched for a moment more, my aphrodite senses tingling. Will rolled his eyes, and then kissed a shocked Nico, making him turn red. Even from this side of the hall, I could imagine him whining "Will!"
