CHAPTER 41: ROGUE WRECKER

After school was finally over, Miko didn't waste a second. She dashed out of school and into Bulkhead.

"Hi, Bulk!" she greeted enthusiastic as ever.

"Hi, Miko. Wait a sec, you aren't skipping detention again, are you?" Bulkhead asked suspiciously.

"Nope, for real this time." Miko said. "Speaking of which, could you take a detour? I wanna ask you something."

"Ok, but why the detour?" Bulkhead asked.

"It's.....personal. Please?" Miko asked and clasped her hands together as she pleaded.

"Ok, but not too long." Bulkhead said.

At first they went by the usual route, after coming Arcee and Bumblebee and letting them know they'll be back a bit late, Bulkhead drove off-road.

"So, what'd you wanna talk about?" Bulkhead asked.

Miko took a deep breath. "It's about Breakdown, Bulk." She said.

Bulkhead nearly hit the brakes. "And?" he said.

"While we were on the Nemesis, Eve got him to open up about his past a bit. Is it true Bulk? Was he a Wrecker too?" Miko asked.

For a moment, Bulkhead kept quiet and Miko became worried that she crossed a line.

Then Bulkhead sighed. "You're right, Miko. He was a Wrecker." He said. "We don't really know why he turned rogue though."

"I do." Miko said. Then she filled him in on how Breakdown had gone to confront Megatron and how he made a deal that he'd join the cons if Megatron could beat him.

"So he really went to face Buckethead alone?! I thought the rumours were exaggerating!" Bulkhead said in surprise.

"Wait, so you knew?" Miko asked.

"Not really, only bits and pieces, I wasn't there." Bulkhead said. "I can't believe he actually thought he could beat him, he's an even bigger idiot than I am!"

"Ya think?" Miko snorted. Then she became unnaturally quiet and deep in thought. "Bulkhead, if Breakdown hadn't gone over and joined the cons, would the two of you be....friends?" she asked.

Bulkhead thought about it. "I can't say I got along with him, even before he became a traitor. But I'll admit that he's a decent bot compared to the other cons like Starscream." Bulkhead said. "Even if he didn't become a con, we never would've been friends."

"But if he was still a Wrecker, you guys wouldn't be enemies either, right?" Miko said.

".....maybe." Bulkhead admitted.

"It's okay, Bulk. I've got your back. And I don't plan on giving up on you anytime soon." Miko said.

"And I couldn't have asked for a better human as a Wrecker and a partner." Bulkhead said.

"Okay, now that that baggage is gone, let's crank it up and do some rad dune-bashing!" Miko said with a pumped fist.

Bulkhead chuckled. Typical. "Hang on tight then!" he said before pushing his gauge up and speeding off.
