"Why did you kiss me?" I ask, after we've had dinner and he decides to join me on the balcony of my bedroom. Annie's out now so it's not a problem
"Why did you kiss back?"
Yeah, why did I do it? Why didn't I object? Pull back maybe?

The silence returns again. I just gaze at the stars and it's beauty.
"I can see you love the night" he says after a while
"Yeah, I've always had a perception about stars"
"What's that?"
"Simply that I have loved stars too fondly to be afraid of the night"
"That's beautiful"
"Thanks, and the idea that though my soul may set in darkness, it'll rise in perfect light"
"What may the darkness be?"
"It may be the fact that I forgot how to be the kind of person everyone expects me to be, forgot how to see love in everything, after giving it a chance and it becoming a failure, I've forgotten how to love, how to care. Maybe love is not for me" I say as I close my eyes and reminisce about the day I decided to give relationship a chance
"Even when it got too hard, too hard for me to care, I forgot how to try. And I don't think I can be reminded"
"You can"
"I doubt it" I open my eyes and gaze at the stars once more
"Can I ask you something?" He asks, fidgeting
"Sure, ask away"
"Will you be my date to the charity ball we're hosting tomorrow?" He asks
"If you tell me something. Truthfully"
"Go ahead"
"Why did you lie to me?"
"About what?" He asks, confused
"About you being a one woman man"
"Well the paparazzi has always been on my neck, and besides magazines are some things people, especially women read a lot these days, I have a lot throwing themselves at me and I don't need more."
"Cocky much are we?"
"Just the truth sugar"
"Sugar?"
"What I'll be calling you, get used to it"

"How did you find out anyway?" He asks
"Well, if you were a one woman man you wouldn't kiss me unless you were certain I was the right woman"
"What if you are the right woman?"
I scoff
"I'm a broken woman Jace, not worth the hustle"
"I can unbreak your broken heart" he winks "What do you think?"
"That'll be cool" I say and chuckle, still not believing his words
