16: Chains

Madaling araw na nang umalis kami sa Manila para pumunta sa port. It was 5 hours sea trip, but I really enjoyed it.

Nang makarating kami sa Marinduque  sumakay kami ng tricycle para puntahan ang sinasabing hotel ni Trift, and we booked 3 rooms for each of us.

"Sabi nila pag unang punta mo daw sa isang lugar dapat simbahan ang unang puntahan. Punta muna tayong simbahan sa centro bago tayo kumain. " Trift said while we were inside the elevator.

Parehas lang kaming tumango ni Javi bilang sagot. It was a long tiring fun trip.

"Let's rest first. Mag alarm kayo ng 10 tapos labas ng 11. " Trift said and we just nodded our heads again.

Parang umaalon parin ang pakiramdam ko at sigurado akong ganun din si Javi. But I was shocked when Trift patted my head.

Wala sa sarili akong napatayo ng tuwid.

"Ang likot nyo kasi ni Javi kanina, puro kayo pictures, hilo tuloy kayo. " he chuckled, still his hands were on top of my head.

"Palibhasa puro ka tulog. "

"At least hindi ako hilo. " tumawa si Trift kaya sinamaan ko lang sya ng tingin.

We bid our byes and Trift reminded us what to do— again— before we were finally able to get inside our room. Mabilis akong humiga sa kama nang makita ko iyon. I'm really tired.

"Ibara! " mariin akong napapikit nang marinig ang sunod sunod na katok at sigaw sa labas.

I jumped out from my bed and open the door not minding if I look like shit right now. Pero mali ata iyon.

"You really enjoyed your sleep, huh. " mapang asar na tumawa si Trift kaya agad kong sinuklay ang buhok ko gamit ang aking daliri.

"What do you want? "

He raised his hands and grinned. "Chill. "

"Ano ba kasi yun? "

"Dumating na yung mga damit na binili mo. Ayaw ibigay sa'kin akala ata scam ako. " he rolled his eyes like a kid. Hindi ko mapigilang mapangiti. "Sabi ko nalang kahit isang pares ng damit ang ibigay sa'kin para makaligo ka bago bumaba. Pumayag naman. "

He showed me a paper bag. May trademark pa iyon nung brand.

"Give me your phone. "

"Ha? "

But I just woke up and I have a short temper right now.

I showed my tattoo on the picture and gave his phone back. Kinuha ko ang black card sa bulsa ko at inabot iyon kay Trift.

"Ikaw kumuha, liligo ako. " then I shut the door on his face and walk towards the shower together with the paper bag.

"Tagal ni Trift. " giit ni Javi habang nakasandal sa pinto ng kwarto nya. We're here in the hallway outside our room for almost 15 minutes at wala paring nagpapakitang Trift.

"11 daw kitaan, napaka tokis. " Javi scratched the back of his ear. Nagkatinginan kaming dalawa.

"I told him to pick up my clothes earlier. Pero 1 hour na lumipas wala parin sya. " I said.

Javi bit his lower lip as if he's thinking about something to do. "Puntahan natin. "

We rode in elevator and walked outside when we finally reached the ground floor. Parehas kaming naglibot ng paningin para makita si Trift.

"There he is! " Javi pointed his index finger on the couch near the front desk.

May itim na maleta sa gilid nya at habang papalapit kami ay mas naaninag ko ang black card ko na hawak hawak nya.

He's also talking to someone...

"You're still a puppy, Cela Iñigo. You don't need to do much for them. Hanggang ngayon ba ay nagpapatali ka parin sa leeg? " sambit ng lalaking kausap ni Trift.

He's wearing a tinted glass, so I couldn't recognize his face. Tatawagin ko na sana si Trift nang higitin ako ni Javi papunta sa likod ng statue malapit sa kanila.

I look at him, only to find his forehead sweating bullets.

"Anong- " natigil ako sa pagsasalita nang marinig ang boses ni Trift.

"I don't need your chitchats, Maison. "

"Really? Look at you! I can see the invisible chains on your neck slowly choking you to death. "

"You shut your mouth or I'll end you right now? "

My eyes pierced on Trift. He pull out something from his pocket, pero bago ko pa man makita kung ano iyon ay mabilis akong hinigit ni Javi palabas ng hotel.

We were near the exit... then I heard screams.
