After Genevieve collapsed, her parents couldn't help but worry. It was all that could be felt, really. The suddenness of it all took them by surprise. Like it would anyone. Of all the ways their visit could've gone this was one outcome they weren't expecting and never would've prepared for. The one in a million result was something completely and utterly unexpected.
It wasn't long until an unsettling tension managed to spread its way throughout the room. It weaved its way back and forth, taking up every inch of space until it devoured it whole. It spread all too quick. However, it didn't last. The heavy feeling which weighed down was inconsequential considering how quick Ashely and Gerald were to react.
They reacted out of instinct. It didn't matter that they had little time to register what had happened. They managed to keep a sense of calm, taking into consideration that they've been in the medical field for quite some time. They've been caught off guard by these types of things once or twice—because of that, it wasn't long until buttons were pressed and nurses were called, alerting them to the emergency at hand.
Meanwhile, out in the hall, when Mark Sloan realized it was Genevieve's room paging for a nurse, the first thing he did was glance over his shoulder out of curiosity. If anything, he expected the exchange between her and her parents to go much like before, and because of that, he lingered close by just in case. At least he had to convince himself that was the only reason.
