**Ashley's POV**

It killed me inside seeing my mate so hurt! I was taking everything out on the enemy right now just to ensure that he would make it out alive. His breathing had been so rapid, and I felt the ribs move as I had helped him up...

Shivering, I threw another wolf to the side as it tried to get up again and attack one of Saxon's she wolves. When was this going to end! What did the Nightblood clan have against us? And who the hell was that one wolf that was trying to kill me?

Something made me think there was more behind this story that my parents weren't telling me. But for now, I had to focus on the task at hand. When this was all over I would get my answers one way or another.

I heard my father howl as everyone stopped to see the Alpha from the Nightblood clan backing off. Had we won?

'You will never come onto this territory again do you understand? Or I will personally rip you to shreds and make your entire pack watch as I do,' he snarled.

The Alpha said nothing but continued backing up into the woods with the others. The rest of us continued to stand in our rigid stances as the last one turned and left.

I stood as did some of the others, waiting for an explanation.

"They won't be coming back," my father reassured everyone.

"Did you make a deal with them Alpha Thrasher?"

"Something like that," he smiled and looked towards Saxon, "you girls are safe."

"Thank you Alpha," she gave him a warm smile as I remembered Stefan.

I looked at two of the older wolves and beckoned for them to follow me as we came over to Stefan who's eyes were shut and his breathing was too slow. Oh no!

"Stef," I bent down and felt his forehead. It was burning up!

"He needs help, I think some of his ribs are broken," I explained as some of the males came over and made a stretcher out of their arms for him to be laid on.

"This is going to hurt babe," I kissed his forehead as we got him onto the guys arms and he gritted his teeth in pain. I felt my wolf whining deep inside at seeing how hurt he was and chastised myself for not doing a better job of protecting him.

"We'll take care of him Ashley," one of the guys assured me as they took off to the medical wing of the estate.

My mother came over to me and stroked my hair, "let's go inside Ashley. We need some rest."

"Mom I can't sleep," I choked.

"Just come with me sweetheart. All we can do is wait,"

I didn't want to wait just to see and know that he was okay. That just wasn't acceptable.

But what else could you do? My mind tried reasoning with me while I walked down a hallway and into my room. There were clothes already laid out on my bed with a towel and some other showering accessories. I grabbed them while my mind was still wandering and started the shower. Even as I stepped in the scalding water didn't disrupt me from my thoughts. He just had to be okay.

Stepping out, I wrapped my hair into my towel and glanced at my body. It was slightly bruised and whatever scratches were there seemed to be healing quickly. So essentially I didn't look like the walking dead.

Grabbing an oversized t-shirt, I threw it on and laid on my bed. I didn't feel like changing into actual clothes, the idea seemed too exhausting.

Before I knew it I was asleep, dreaming and fearing the worst for my mate.
