**Ashley's POV**

I stared at Stefan's back as he got up abruptly and left to use the bathroom. Funny, I had never gotten that reaction from someone before.

"So you got someone's eyes and now you can see?"

"Basically," I replied and saw Blake was whispering something to Ella who looked back at where Stefan had gone before covering her mouth.

What the hell was going on?

"Is everything okay?" I asked.

"Yea, he's just... I'll go check on him," Blake stood up and went to go see while Ella just stared at her napkin with no interest.

I felt my phone vibrate and saw a text from Ella.

'Tell you after.'

I simply nodded and knew she wouldn't be able to tell me after because she was going to be going home and showing her parents the ring that Blake was giving her. But whatever the reason was for him to just leave probably had to do with me, and I wasn't offended at this point. It wasn't anything new.

Although I had to admit, he was pretty attractive...

The two returned and Stefan's gaze made my heart wrench. He looked so distraught and I had no idea why...

"So you all know why we're here tonight," Blake said and grabbed Ella's hand gently. "Ella, these past few years have been amazing with you by my side. And I hope it continues to be that way as well,"

Ella smiled brightly and looked puzzled as Blake got out of his chair and knelt down on one knee.

"Blake," she gasped and covered her mouth.

"Ella Fitzgerald, would you do me the honor of being my wife?"

She wiped her eyes and bent down to kiss him as she murmured, "yes."

He slid the ring onto her finger as Hazel snapped some photos of the two. I couldn't be happier for my best friend right then and there.

She wiped her eyes as she tried to get the tears to stop, "I'm sorry guys."

"Don't be," I rubbed her shoulder as Blake ordered tiramisu for us all.

I chanced a look at Stefan and saw he was already staring intently at me. Was that supposed to be creepy or flattering? But I felt myself being drawn towards him and realized I needed to find out if my intuition was right or not.

Once everyone finished paying, I already knew where Ella and her fiancé were going so I headed back towards my car. I didn't pay attention as I heard someone stand behind me and stiffened.

"Sorry," his voice came from behind me.

"It's okay," I turned around and focused on anything but his eyes.

"Well I just wanted to say it was nice to meet you," he said gently as I looked at his face.

"You too," I gave a small smile, "if you ever wanted to hang out without the almost married couple, here's my number." I wrote it down on a receipt and gave it to him.

"Yea, I definitely would like that," he leaned against my car as I waited for him to leave or say something else.

"I'm sorry for earlier, when you were telling your story," he started.

"It's okay," I lied, "I'm kinda used to people freaking out over my eye color."

He nodded, "what color were they before the..."

"Transplant," I said and saw him stiffen just a bit. I mean yea I knew the procedure was gross but jeez, no need to freak out over a word.

"They were hazel and grey."

"Interesting," he said, his eyes never leaving mine.

I felt that somewhere deep within me that he was the one but I did nothing to pursue it. It was too early to tell anyways.

"I should get going," I said and got into my car as he backed away from the door.

"I'll see you later Ash," he walked away.

There's something about you Stefan Godwin, and I'll be damned if I don't figure out what it is.
