the sphere was some metal he had never seen before
his eyes trailed after it
stuck and unmoving
it was like steel with a faint blue glow
reminiscent of the crystalline oceans he had come from
it stood nearly 3 feet from the earth
suspended, untouchable, and fixed
and where it was exposed to the air
cracking and lethal, trauma colored
lightning struck repeatedly
his bones vibrated with every strike
expectant of the growling reply of thunder
yet the air hung unnaturally silent and static
and instead, he realized with a chill
it illuminated his monsters
surrounding him
and even though he knew they were monsters
and they were viciously clawing at his skin
ripping it from his bones
he stayed rooted in his spot
and he was calm
because it was like the beautiful crystalline oceans he had come from
the salt water taste on his tongue
it was swallowing him whole
and he willingly let it
with each blinding strike
