I chuckled. "I can assure you that I want you alive for everything I want to do with you."

Her eyes widened.

At first, I thought I'd gone too far.

Did that sound creepy? Shit, I didn't mean to come off that way.

Leah covered her mouth as she chuckled, eyes darting off.

God, she was gorgeous when she laughed. The green in her eyes shined and her cheeks swelled into adorable apples.

I grinned widely at having caused such a beautiful scene to occur.

"I didn't realize you already had plans for me, Doc," she teased me.

"We can be spontaneous if you'd prefer," I offered.

Tilting her chin up, I peered down into her eyes and leaned closer to her, until our forearms brushed together along the bar top.

She smelled like honeysuckle and the wind on top of a tall mountain.

"I do know this place where we can get those coffees you wanted, though," I said. "I think you'll like it."

Her crooked smile drew me in. I stared at her lips, licking my own.

"I need something a little more robust, Doc," she told me. "Something to make me want to shower drunk tonight."

"You are a dangerous woman, Leah Harris," I chuckled, shaking my head.

My gaze searched her face before landing on her glossy pink lips. I was ready to taste her and feel the dips of her curves. I wanted her off this fucking stool and in my bed. I couldn't wait to hear the dirty things she'd say with that pretty mouth.

"This place serves a little bit of everything," I assured her. "I think you'll be impressed."

"Does this place happen to be your place, Dr. Muller?"

Visions of her golden fan of hair spread across my black sheets filled my mind. Her legs spread, toes curled. Red marks down my back, her fingernails biting into me.

I laughed. "Surprisingly, no. I'm not quite that forward."

She visibly relaxed and nodded, smiling again. "Cool. My alter ego might be that forward, but she's on lockdown right now."

"The same alter ego that landed you in my hospital room?" I asked, flashing her a wicked smirk.

I couldn't wait to meet this wild side of her. As long as I was around, she was safe and free to let loose. My eyes never wanted to leave her sight.

"Ah, well, maybe another night that isn't a weeknight I'll introduce you," she said. "I still have to go to work tomorrow."

I laughed. "I'll get you home in one piece. Promise."

"Say less. You ready to get out of here?"

My smile grew impossibly wider. I'd never wanted to hear those words on a woman's lips before.
