^.^ CHAPTER 1 ^.^

Start from the beginning

After walking down the beach for a few minutes, I approach a building that resembles a small diner. It looks exactly like what you would expect a restaurant on the beach to look like - wooden tables outside with plastic chairs surrounding them, covered with a twig like sturdy ceiling providing the shade needed from the blistering sun. There is also a stage to the right of the Diner and a small wooden shack to the left.

Walking around the tables, I approach the entrance and open the door. The inside feels much nicer at this time of day due to the air conditioned interior providing a nice cool atmosphere in comparison to the heat outside. I breathe a sigh of relief - feeling the cold air cooling down my skin.

Looking around, I take in the stylish diner, immediately noticing that it is actually a lot fancier than the outside and also much more spacious than what you would expect before entering. It has a bar to the left with a door to the kitchen behind it. Then to the far right there is another small stage covered with music equipment. There are booths all around the restaurant fit to seat up to 6 people and smaller tables scattered throughout the centre.

I glance around, looking for an empty seat and spot an empty booth at the far back. I'm about to move towards the booth when I feel someone bump into me from behind. Catching myself before I fall, I turn around to look at the culprit.

"Sorry!! Are you alright? I am so sorry - I didn't see you standing there!" The girl says as she grabs my arm to help steady me. She looks at me with a guilty expression on her face. She around my height - probably the same age as me - with plaited chocolate brown hair that matches her big round brown eyes. She is wearing a bright pink bathing suit and black shorts. I pause for a moment before answering, surprised at her accent. Although not English I would think it isn't Australian either.

Snapping out of my embarrassing haze I wave my hands in front of me, "No! Its OK! I should have moved out of the way instead of standing behind the door," I nervously weave my fingers together in front of me.

She gives me a 'Once over' before answering, "You aren't from around here are you?"

"Is it that obvious?" She starts walking towards the open seats at the back so I follow her, making sure I don't hit my hip on any of the chairs.

"Well, you don't have a bathing suit on and your English accent isn't commonly heard around here. Plus, there aren't many tourists around this side of the beach as most houses are occupied by locals. Also, I've never seen you around" She smiles knowingly and stops in front of an empty booth. Holding out her hand to me she adds "My name is Lea by the way"

I shake her hand with a firm grip, "Nice, my name is Cyan." I praise myself mentally, proud that I'm actually interacting normally with another human. Back home, in the small town I come from, I always found it hard to meet new people as most of us already know each other. This resulted in me turning out a little more anti social than most people.

"No way!" she exclaims flopping down into the booth as she shakes her hand out opposite her to the empty seat indicating for me to join her, "Cyan is another word for Aqua! And Aqua is my middle name! It is used to describe a colour between --"

"Blue and green" We both finish the sentence off together and I throw a smile her way. "You are the only person I've met in my Twenty years of life who actually knows that."

She raises her eye brows in surprise, "Well it's commonly used here. I actually think it originates from Australia. Never heard anyone with it as a name though. That's cool." She shrugs and grabs a menu from the centre of the table and pushes it my way before grabbing one for herself. "So Cyan, did your parents name you that because of the blue-green colour of your eyes or was that totally a coincidence."
