Life

The blood is rushing
through my veins,
Invigorating,
healing everything.

I feel it spread,
throughout my limbs,
Warming,
with the heat it brings.

Ah life-force,
how can I ever
live without you?

I can't.
I need you.
So I take you,
from the cruelly departed,
at my own fair hand.

The blood is running
down my face,
As I wipe it,
I should feel disgraced,

but I don't.
I feel life.
The life I've taken,
And the life I preserve.

My own.
