She stumbled across
the uneven floor.
The absence of light
proved a challenge.
Panic rose to constrict
her throat like a vice.
Breathing was shallow
she feared for her life.
Noises now amplified
senses are heightened.
She knew she was trapped
and terrifyingly frightened.
And she had every reason to be.
