You're afraid, your parents are afraid and your sister is afraid as well. You're huddled together, keeping each other close as you hear voices outside. You don't know if they belong to the slave traders that have been making the island unsafe or to travelers, but you won't take any risks.
You sit there for what feels like an hour, shifting in your mother's embrace, when suddenly two piercing eyes peak through the with wooden planks covered window. They look at you and your family, but nothing happens. The eyes only stare at you and you realize that these eyes belong to someone around your age.
You want to say something so you move forward, the eyes look harmless after all, but your mother pulls you back. You turn towards her and see how she shakes her head no, not saying a word. When you turn back the eyes are gone. You wonder if you'll ever see them again, but seeing as to how the slave traders will probably capture all of the intruders you doubt that will happen.
