Chapter 18 - Jill's Issue

I checked the time. It's 9:45 am.

I prepared myself to go out from my office.

"You ready?" I asked Jill.

As I can see, may nakahandang folder sa kaniyang mesa.

"Opo sir!"

Nagtungo kami sa aking sasakyan. Nauuna ako sa paglalakad habang nakasunod lang siya.

Habang naglalakad kami sa hallway, napansin ko ang ilang mga empleyado na nagbu-bulungan habang nakasulyap sa aming direksyon.

Hindi ko na lang sila masyadong pinansin.

No'ng palabas na kami ng building, napansin kong ganoon ulit ang ginagawa ng ilan sa mga nandoon. Nangbu-bulungan ulit sila.

I noticed something! They're looking at Jill. Pa-simple ko siyang sinulyapan, nakayuko siya as if she's aware of what the people around her are talking about.

Nakarating kami sa hotel ng 10:20 am.

According to Mr. Steve Veloso, the restaurant in that hotel is very convenient for meetings so I think the ambiance is okay.

Agad kaming sinalubong ng isa sa mga crew doon and we were directed to a table that Mr. Veloso has reserved.

The restaurant is nice and really elegant. Chandeliers, seats, and lights and nagdala. Hindi siya ganoon kaluwang but I think it can accommodate 50 persons.

The tables are round with red tablecloth.

"Good morning," agad na bati ni Mr. Veloso na nadatnan naming nakaupo na roon.

Napatayo siya para i-greet kami ni Jill.

He's tall, thin. As I can see, ang trademark ng mukha niya ay ang matangos niyang ilong. His nose is pointed and it's actually longer than the average size of a nose. Naka-eyeglasses din siya.

"You must be the CEO's EA," sambit niya kay Jill.

"O-opo sir!"

"Nice meeting you," he exclaimed with an amused facial expression.

Mayamaya pa ay ibinaling niya ang kaniyang atensyon sa 'kin.

" Mr. Welch, the son of the late Barry Welch? Ikinalulungkot ko ang nangyari sa iyong ama."

"Yes I am his son!"

"As I can observe. Magka-mukha kayo eh!" he said confidently.

" Uhmmmm...."

Medyo na-awkward ako sa sinabi niya.

"That's funny," biro ko.

Adopted lang ako so I don't think may mamamana ako sa kaniyang physical resemblance.

Hindi naman naging ganoon kahaba ang negotiation. He proposed the terms and conditions with regards to his offer. But in the midst of the discussion, may napansin ako.

Kanina pa siya pasulyap-sulyap kay Jill. I mean of course it's normal to look at someone when you're speaking but hey! I'm a guy too and I can easily discern other guys' gesture. I can sense that there is something in the way he looks at Jill. Of course Jill couldn't notice because she's more focused on her notes.

"Ahemmmm," I cleared my throat to distract him kaya napalingon siyang muli sa'kin.

"Na-note mo ba lahat ng sinabi ko?" asked Mr. Veloso to Jill. Napansin ko ang mabilis niyang pag-kindat. Too fast, it's faster than a second but sorry for him, I'm a keen observer.

"O-opo!"

Agad napa-yuko si Jill sa ginawa ni Mr. Veloso para umiwas.

Type niya si Jill?
