This is just a really pleasant word that can give a simple sentence or thought a bit of flare. It's a word that I'd like to have in my back pocket when writing or just conveying thoughts verbally on a daily basis.
A prolific writer, a prolific library, a prolific soccer-player. It's a simple comment when you break it down, but there's something about that wording that seems much more complimentary and almost wise than any alternative that I can think of.
