Dan-
"Phil?" I called out to him as I headed towards the living room from my bedroom. Entering the space, I found him sitting on the sofa with his eyes glued onto his laptop screen.
"What's up?" He calmly answered, adjusting his glasses.
"I'm heading out to visit (y/n) at work. She's been really stressing over her upcoming job interviews so I figured I'd try to brighten her day up a bit."
Phil didn't say anything, let alone even look my way. He just gave me a slight nod and continued on with whatever he was doing.
"... Alright."
"I'll see you later then." Reaching out towards the door knob, I suddenly heard Phil mumble something under his breath. I drifted my attention to him again, furrowing my brows in curiosity, "Did you say something?"
Phil raised his head from his laptop screen, "I said that's only if you really do come back."
"What do you mean by that?"
His eyes darted away, and that's when it became clear to me that he was hiding something.
"Phil."
He let out a heavy sigh, "You just feel distant is all. And not just towards me, everyone really."
"Well my birthday is coming up next Monday, we can just do something the weekend before."
"Dan, when was the last time you even connected with the fans? There are literally posts on Tumblr wondering if you're okay; people are even starting to ask me now."
"So I'm just taking a break from the internet, what's wrong with that?"
Phil's shoulders began to stiffen up and his voice became uneasy, "Did you not hear what I just said? People are worried about you, Daniel. Supporters who've been with you way before (y/n) are worried about you."
"You think I'm spending too much time with her, right? That's basically what you're getting at."
My tone of voice changed with his, but mine became deeper and unsympathetic.
"You just don't seem to care about anything else, that's what I'm getting at. You even cancelled our plans last Friday to make a new gaming video just so you can spend it with her!"
"You're acting like I'm picking sides here! Just because I'm spending time with my girlfriend and not on the internet doesn't mean I suddenly stopped giving a fuck about everything and everyone. I'm finally going out and doing things, I'm seeing more of the world from someone else's point of view. Do you know how incredible it feels to spend time with someone who doesn't check their notifications every passing second? I actually want to go outside more because of her; how often have you heard me say that before?"
The room fell quiet once I had finished. After a few seconds went by, Phil silently stood up from his seat and exited the room, taking his laptop with him. I finally took hold of the front door knob, leaving the apartment.
-
The shops door bell dinged as I opened it. I instantly found (y/n) standing in front of a group of flowers with the new worker right beside her. She glanced up at me for a split second with a small grin on her lips, then returned her attention back to the training.
I stepped over towards the register and leaned up against the counter. With my arms folded, I watched (y/n) point out a few flowers to the new guy; whatever she was telling him must've been pretty important, considering he was jotting down notes in a small notepad.
"Hey, Dan." Scarlett spoke from behind me.
"Whoa," I said, slightly startled, "Hi, Scarlett. How long have you been there for?"
"Didn't you hear me greet you when you first walked in?"
I shook my head to her question, "You're really quiet sometimes."
"Not the first time I've heard that." She replied, rolling her eyes afterward, "Anyway... You and (y/n) are still on for our double date this weekend, right?"
"Uh.." I cleared my throat, "I'm probably going to have to miss out on that, actually.. My birthday is next Monday, so I might do something with a few friends the weekend before; it's super last minute."
"But my girlfriend already put in the reservation for the four of us, and it wouldn't really be four people without you there." She said with a small chuckle at the end.
"I'm really sorry. Maybe we could do it again some other time."
Scarlett nodded as she thought to herself for a moment. A lightbulb seemed to turn on in her head as she spoke excitedly, "But (y/n) already gave out the invites."
"Invites?"
"Hello!" (Y/n)'s voice sang from beside me. I immediately turned my gaze to her, and greeted her back with a small kiss against her cheek. From the corner of my eye, I could see Scarlett stepping away.
(Y/n) took hold of my left hand with her right, lacing our fingers, "Whatcha doin' here? I thought you had that rescheduled video planned with Phil today?"
I then closed my eyes to mentally facepalm myself.
"No wonder he was pissed..."
"I forgot that was a thing," I admitted, "Today might've not been a good time to do it anyway."
"What do you mean? Are you feeling okay?" (Y/n) inquired, concerned.
"I'm feeling alright. It's just that maybe on the walk here, I've been thinking about doing a video.. with you."
