10:45AM
I stood in front of the register at work, carefully working on putting together a bouquet of flowers in a clear glass vase. Ace and Scarlett were walking around the shop, tending to some of the flowers.
"Will it ever stop raining?l Ace's voice echoed through the soft playing music we had going throughout the store. I looked up from my bouquet, watching him stare out the large window.
"I strongly doubt it." I giggled, gently tracing my finger tips along the designs on the vase in front of me.
"Y/n)?" Scarlett spoke, "Do you think the roses should be organized-" The small bell hanging from our shop door tinged as the door swung open. The three of us turned towards the sound, looking to see who walked in.
"Hello." The tall stranger with milk chocolate hair and coffee brown eyes chirped my way; he had his soft grin again.
"Hello." I said back, giving him a cheesy smile.
He made his way over to where I was standing. Today he wore all black, and held his wet umbrella inside of a bag with his right hand. "I'm here to take you up on that offer from Monday, if you remember it."
I nodded, "Just select whatever kind of flowers you'd like, and I'll ring you up!"
The man looked down at the umbrella in his hand before leaning it up against the counter. He cleared his throat, "Actually, would you mind helping me pick out some?"
-
"Because of our wide shop, we have many to select from."
I walked in front of the man, leading him through the isles, "Is there a certain flower or color scheme you're looking for?" I asked, stopping in my tracks, turning around on my heels to face him.
"No, not exactly. Um, how about you pick some out and I'll take six of them?" the stranger spoke, giving me a gentle smile.
"Just six?"
He nodded reassuringly.
We made our way to the roses, and I grabbed three white ones; similar to the ones he picked the other day. Walking over to the sunflowers, I stood in front of them to pick out the best ones.
"Are these your favorite?" He stood to the right of me, admiring the sunflowers.
"I don't think I really have a favorite, but I do love these ones."
I picked one sunflower from the middle of the bunch.
"I remember you holding some in your arm when I was walking in."
His voice became softer.
I picked another.
"And I remember you carrying out some white roses, that's why I grabbed three."
I looked up at him and our eyes met again.
"Those were for a friend's birthday."
I hesitated looking away, but did. I refocused on the sunflowers.
"Happy late birthday to your friend!" I chirped, receiving a small chuckle from him.
We stood next to one another in silence for a moment. Reaching out for another sunflower, his voice broke the silence, "My name is Dan, by the way."
I brought the sunflower to my left arm and held it with the rest.
"(Y/n)." I smiled shyly up at him.
"(Y/n)." he repeated, also smiling back.
Dan reached out and grabbed another sunflower, holding it out to me.
"One more for the hell of it."
-
"No need for the discount, by the way." Dan said as I started to ring him up.
"No, no, I insist!" I protested, but Dan just shook his head.
"You said you'd ring me up, and you are. That's good enough for me."
After he paid, he held the flowers close to him. "Have a nice day, (Y/n)." Dan smiled at me; his dimples happily showing themselves.
"You too!"
It stopped raining.
