Loud beeping came from my phone the next morning, signaling me to wake up for work. I reached out towards my night stand, grabbed my phone and turned off the alarm.
Tuesday, April 8th
9:30am
I sat up in my bed, and stretched my arms up as I yawned. I threw my legs over to the side of my bed and got up, leaving my bedroom to make coffee in the kitchen.
-
"Could you pour me a cup too, please?" Violet asked, slipping on her shoes as she entered the kitchen. I nodded, opening up the cabinet to grab two cups.
Pouring the coffee into the cups, the familiar brown color grabbed my attention.
His eyes.
It was almost as if they were looking back at me once again.
Again, I snapped back into reality as Violet called out my name. "Are you okay?" she asked. I nodded, handing her one of the cups, "I guess I'm just a little tired."
She poured some creamer into her coffee before handing it off to me, "Would you like me to pick you up again today? It's probably going to rain again."
"I think I'll just walk home instead..." Pouring some creamer into my cup, I continued, "I need to get my head out of the clouds and I think a walk might help."
-
I hugged Violet goodbye before stepping out of the car. I stood at the crosswalk, waiting for the light to change so I could make it to my work.
"This is where he was standing yesterday." My inner thoughts teased. "He was just a stranger," I thought "Stop thinking about him."
The light changed and I crossed the street.
Walking into the floral shop, I was greeted by my two coworkers, Ace and Scarlett. "Hey, (Y/n), come see these Amaryllis'! There absolutely gorgeous." Scarlett called out. Ace held up his hand and motioned me their way.
-
He didn't come.
My shift was about to end, and he didn't come.
"I'll see you guys tomorrow." I said to the two, sliding my arms into my black coat sleeves.
"See you later!" Ace called out. "Be safe!" Scarlett said with a grin.
I put my red beanie on and started to walk over to the shop door. I stood outside for a moment underneath the storefront awning. Rain began to fall... and I didn't bring an umbrella.
I stepped out into the rain and looked up, little droplets fell on my face.
I looked around the street; traffic began to build up and a few people were walking with umbrellas, but none of them were him.
The rain got heavier.
