Dan picked me up from my work once my shift had ended; purchasing a bouquet of sunflowers before we left.
"Phil is pretty excited to see you again." Dan grinned. I held onto the sunflowers as we walked up to his flat.
"Oh, really?" I smiled with him, "So he knows I'm coming over then?"
Once we made it to the door, Dan pulled out his key and unlocked it.
"Of course. Well, he helped with encouraging me to invite you."
As the door swung open, Dan stepped to the side and allowed me to walk in first. Doing so, I heard Phil voice coming from the hallway, "Dan? I have this new video idea I want to talk to you about-..." Phil's normal expression switched to glee right as he saw me, "(Y/n)!!"
"Hey, Phil!" I smiled with him, chuckling to myself as he pulled me in for a hug.
-
"And this is my room." Dan opened the door, again allowing me to walk in before him.
"Whoa. You got a pretty sweet moon theme going on." I complimented.
Dan awkwardly shoved his hands in his front pockets, "I still have a lot more I want to add, but thank you!"
"Although, now I'm unsure how well these sunflowers will fit with your theme."
He proceeded to walk over to his desk and picked up his laptop, sitting on his bed with it on his lap. Dan patted the spot next to him, signaling me to sit down so I did. He carefully took the sunflowers from me, then placed them on his nightstand.
"I like how they stand out."
-
I sat off to the side of Dan so I wouldn't be in view.
"So, guys," Dan spoke to his viewers. He gave me a small grin before continuing, "I have an important person I want to introduce. No, no, I'm not talking about Phil- you guys already know him!"
Dan motioned me to come into view; I hesitated, but finally did.
"This is (y/n)! Aka the girl I... spilt coffee on..."
I awkwardly waved at the screen, feeling slightly overwhelmed by all the comments flooding in.
Just then, my phone ding. I pulled it out from my pocket to see a text message from Violet; I silently read it to myself: "WTF UR AT THE PHLAT?! W DAN?? IN HIS ROOM?? ON YOUNOW¿? I. AM. IN. TEARS. THE SHIP HAS REALLY FUCKING SAILED"
"Well, she's obviously watching it at home."
"Are you two dating?" Dan read off one of the comments.
As those words fell out from his mouth, it felt like my heart leaped up and lodged itself into my throat.
Without looking at me, Dan shook his head, "Not.. exactly. (Y/n) and I are just really close."
"Yeah, I wouldn't want him to spill coffee on me every time we hanged out, anyway." I teased him, receiving a nudge from Dan in return.
"And I wouldn't want her to dump rain water on me either!" He teased back, laughing.
"That was one time!"
"So was the coffee thing!"
-
Almost an hour into YouNow, I really started to give more attention to the comments; answering some questions, and laughing along with Dan to a few of them.
"Well, guys, the time has come. Any last words, (y/n)?"
"Stay your teeth and brush your school."
Dan laughed at my stupid quote, "Did you mean to say it that way?" He asked in between laughs.
His adorable laughter brought me to laugh with him, as usual, "Duh! I don't struggle with sentences that bad like you!"
Dan gave me a dramatic offended look, clearly remembering what he said at the aquarium.
We exchanged another laugh and he finished his sign off.
"That went way better than I thought it would." Dan laid his laptop on one of his pillows. He then laid back on his bed; I sheepishly followed along and did the same. Laying next to each other, we both stared up at the ceiling, his blanket feeling soft underneath me.
"Your supporters are really nice, especially this one named Violet."
"She was watching?"
"Are you surprised?"
"Not really." He chuckled.
"How exactly did you think the livestream would go, anyway?" I asked him. Dan turned his head to look at me, I did the same. His terrible room lighting actually complimented his facial features...
And he looks..
"Really fucking attractive that's what he looks like. Oh, god, he's grinning; that fucking grin gets me e v e r y time I swear-"
I mentally kicked those thoughts to the back of my mind.
"I don't know." Dan began, "I guess I was just really worried about how you would feel about it."
"I was pretty nervous at first, I'll admit. But you gotta think yellow thoughts, right?"
"Yellow thoughts?"
"Oh," I awkwardly giggled, "Um, that's just what Violet and I use as a synonym for happy." I lightly shrugged my shoulders.
We sat up from his bed, our knees touching as Dan and I looked at one another. He grabbed one of the sunflowers from his nightstand; his large hand making it appear smaller than it really is. His eyes wondered throughout it before coming back to me; our eyes locked and it felt like his chocolate orbs were singing admiration towards me, a small grin tugged on the corner of his lips.
"He really does know how slick he can be. Fucking christ, my heart is fEELING THINGS."
My heart rate kicked up as did my thoughts.
"Is that why you enjoy sunflowers so much?" Dan questioned.
"Fucking say something!!"
"I guess you could say that." I mumbled out.
We sat in silence for a moment, our eyes still holding on to each other; my cheeks began to warm up.
Dan slowly started to lean closer to me and my body had the sudden urge to do the same.
"Okay, okay, okayokayokay- don't panic. Whatever yoU DO JUST REMAIN. CALM. OKAY? KISSING. THE LIPS. KISSING. WE ARE GOING TO TOUCH THE LIPS. WHY AM I FREAKING OUT? REMAIN CA-"
All my thoughts shut themselves down but my heart rate kept running. Sprinting, at this point.
Our lips were a few centimeters away from each other, and I felt Dan's words practically dance across my lips as he whispered, "Will you be my girl-"
"Hey, guys! Do you-"
Dan and I quickly jolted back as Phil came in through the door. Sitting a few feet away from Dan, I felt my blush increase terribly.
"Phil!" Dan said, a hint of annoyance sprinkled in his voice.
I kept my view down to my hands on my lap, a feeling of shyness had come over me.
"Oh, gosh, I'm sorry. I was just going to ask if you two wanted to watch a movie.."
"Maybe later." Dan sighed.
The room stayed silent for a moment before Phil left the room.
"Sorry about that." Dan apologized. I shook my head to his apology, "It's okay, really."
Silence fell into the room once again.
Dan scooted his body closer and held out the sunflower to me, "Take it home?"
I glanced up at him with a gentle smile, then back down to the flower as I carefully took it from him, "Okay."
