"At Adam's house, it was his birthday," I shrugged.

"Oh ok, well go take out the trash later, ok?" She asked.

"Sure, " I replied. That was one thing about my parents; they've been really carefree since my brothers went to college. I wandered up the stairs and into my room, setting my bag on my bed. Gathering up my dirty clothes, I put them in the laundry basket and headed towards the laundry room. After turning on the machine I took out the trash and as soon as I got back into the house, the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it!" My mom yelled as I headed towards the bathroom to wash my hands. A few moments later my mom called out again,"Brooke! Come here." I sighed and walked over to the door expecting one of my mom's old friends, but it wasn't.

"Zac?" I asked shocked.

"Yeah! I know right! He's so tall! I haven't seen you in such a long time," My mom gushed.

"Yeah, this is a surprise," I said awkwardly.

"Well, I just wanted to know if Brooke wants to like hang out today?" Zac asked hopefully.

"Yes, she would love to," My mom said trying not to be too excited as she shoved my boots and a twenty dollar bill into my hands. "Bye!" she yelled as she pushed me out of the house and closed the door.

"Well bye," I said happily as I made my way towards the backdoor, knowing my mom she would probably lock the front.

"No, no, no, no! Please come with me. Just one afternoon," Zac begged, pulling my arm.

 "Just one afternoon?" I sighed.

"Yea, just one. Come on," Zac said pulling me towards his beat up truck.

Reluctantly, I followed him into the car. "Where are we going?"

"Ice skating," Zac shrugged as he pulled out of my driveway.

Frowning, I crossed my arms and pouted, "You know I can't ice skate,"

"I'll teach you," He said, smiling.

"That's what you said last time," I rolled my eyes.

"Well, this time is different," He said, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry for ignoring you. I'm sorry for telling you I didn't want to be friends anymore. I'm sorry for everything,"

I looking up into his eyes I sighed, "I forgive you,"

He mumbled an excited 'yes' and said "Thank you, I would hug you but I'm driving,"

By the time we reached the ice skating rink, we were both laughing. Wow, how did we make up that fast? Zac paid for the rental skates and we walked towards the booth to get our skates. We laced them up and waddled over to the ice.

"You need to hold my hand or you'll fall," Zac said placing his hand in front of me. Gingerly I reached for his hand and we stepped out onto the ice, where immediately, I fell. Zac picked me up and steadied me on my feet, while trying not to laugh.

"Come on, you need to pick your feet up like this and then glide," Zac said gripping my arm tightly so that I wouldn't fall. I fell a few more times, but soon I was getting the hang of it, not.

"Hey. If you fall, I fall," Zac said looking me in the eyes. Just as he said that my feet slipped and I landed on my butt.

"You didn't fall," I said accusingly.

He faked slipping and landed on his butt and locked at me, "There." We both started laughing immediately and stopped once someone yelled at us.

"Wanna get lunch?" Zac asked as we walked back to get our shoes.

"Sure," I said as I slipped my feet into my boots.

                                                                         ----------------------------------

We arrived at our local fast food chain store and walked up to the counter to get lunch. The girl at the counter turned around and I gasped. It was one of Shawna's friends; well not actually friends, just a girl who idolizes her.

"Hey Zac, who is this?" The girl asked pointing to me.

"I think the correct question you're supposed to ask me is 'What would you like to order?' " Zac smirked at her.

She rolled her eyes, "Well, what would you like to order? By the way, Shawna's hearing about this,"

"Whatever," I scoffed, rolling my eyes.

"Oh! I'm telling Adam too," She said as if it was a good comeback.

"Like, he would believe you," I retorted.

We ordered our food and sat down at an empty booth. We chewed our food and cautiously watched as the girl stole glances at us from the corner of her eyes.

"Well, is she still watching?" I whispered to Zac.

"Yea. Let's give her something to talk about," He smirked mischievously. He whispered me the plan and we threw away all of our trash. Zac placed his arm around my shoulder and I could have sworn I heard that girl gasp. Once we were outside, in front of the glass doors we hugged and split up to walk back to Zac's car.

"Did you see her face?" Zac laughed excitedly.

"Yeah, it was hilarious," I laughed along.

                                                              ----------------------------------

"Well thank you," I smiled at Zac as I exited his car.

"No, thank you," Zac said giving me a smile. I gave him a hug and walked back into my house where my mom was staring through the window.

"Uh, Mom?" I asked giving her a weird look.

"Oh!" She said jumping back, "I couldn't help myself you guys are so cute,"

"Um ok, I'll be in my room," I said inching towards the stairs. Once I reached my room, my phone rang and I reached into my pocket and looked at the screen. Random number, must be a wrong number call I thought, but I picked up anyway.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Brooke, stay away from Zac, ok?" The person, who I assumed was a girl said harshly.

"Shawna?" I asked.

"Um, no?" The voice faltered and I smirked. "Just stay away from him or else,"

"Or else what?" I asked.

"Just or else," She screeched.

"That doesn't sound very threatening," I said innocently.

"Just stay away from him!" She yelled before hanging up.
