"I love the person I've become because I fought to become her."

by Kaci Diane.

"You and my nephew seemed cozy on the dance floor." Natalie sipped her frilly drink after half an hour later. Kuma was lying at her feet dozing off when I arrived at our table. Emma and Daniel were at the table as well-Daniel nursing a drink while Emma stuck to juice. Emma never drank so; it was no wonder why it didn't alert Daniel or anyone else.

I scowled at the older woman, "What's with that tone of voice?" I questioned as I sat down next to her and Kuma began begging for my attention. I stroked my canine as I stare curiously at Natalie who was smirking.

"What are you implying?" Daniel was frowning at the older she-wolf.

Natalie shrugged, "That they looked good together."

Daniel sputtered and almost spat out his drink, Emma tried to hide her smirk, and I blushed badly, "D-Don't be ridiculous!" Daniel grumbled scowling at the women at the table, "My little sister does not need some male wolf distracting her from her studies."

"Some male wolf, eh?" I chuckled lightly.

Natalie looked ready to spit fire at my older brother, "That male wolf happens to be your Alpha, show some respect!" Natalie snapped not looking pleased and then before my brother could counter, said, "I wasn't implying anything I was merely saying that they looked nice together. I think Deon would be beneficial for you, Skye."

"Just as friends' right?" Daniel questioned.

Natalie gave a glare to my older brother, "Obviously." She lied through her teeth.

Daniel eyed the older female but looked content with her answer. Natalie finished her drink and got up with a stretch, "Well, I'm going for a run. My wolf has been pestering me for a jog ever since we got back to this shit-hole." Natalie informed us with a wink, "My brother wanted me to check on the patrols and make sure they were actually doing their duties and not fucking around."

"I'm sure that they are," Emma spoke up quietly, "I doubt they would disrespect out Alpha during such an important gathering."

Natalie nodded in agreement, "I agree with you but it doesn't hurt to check." The strong she-wolf nods her goodbye and saunters off into the nearby woods.

"I'll get you two some more drinks." Daniel gets up to re-fill our empty cups.

"Thanks, darling." Emma smiled.

I turn to Emma with narrowed eyes wondering if this was my moment to confront this woman about my first niece or nephew. Emma caught my stare and stared back with wide eyes. "What's wrong, Skye?" Emma questioned with concern.

"Are you pregnant?"

Emma's mouth dropped and her hands immediately went to her stomach. She looked completely taken by surprise but after a few seconds, she composed herself. She cleared her throat timidly and rested her hands in her lap, "What gave me away?" She asked softly now looking amused.

I shrugged, "The subtle gestures to your stomach."

Emma gave a goofy grin, "I figured if anyone would have figured it out, it would have been you but I certainly didn't expect you to figure it out so fast." She gave a tiny giggle, "I've only recently found out before you arrived back home." She told softly with a radiant glow about her-the glow of motherhood.
