"Rise: to prove they couldn't break you."

Akumal, Mexico.

"This humidity is pissing me off." Natalie grumbled.

It had been a few weeks since we landed in Akumal, Mexico. The small city was very cozy and breath-taking; its name in Mayan language means land of turtles which suited it greatly since sea turtles here were fiercely protected. I had seen dozens of clutches hatch from near our rental home that was near the sea. The residents here were always hunting and marking nests to make sure everyone was aware of the delicate nests.

The pack was, well, rough. It seems like Mexican wolves were rather unwelcoming of rejected wolves, not all but most of them. They weren't rude in any way but they made it very well-known that I wasn't exactly welcomed here, honestly I didn't care. I wasn't here to make friends I was here to study. Besides, I had Natalie and Kuma.

Now, the other students learning at the school were more accepting then the pack residing in this turtle town. It made learning bearable and pleasing. Today was Sunday which meant our day off because Sundays were meant for Church and most of the teachers and students would go off and have their mass. Of course, we had our masses separated from the humans.

Natalie and I typically spent Sundays on the beach or browsing the small shops in town. We were stepping out of our small two bedroom rental and onto the beach. The small beach-house was on the out-skirts of town and it was the Alpha that had given us this home. Last week, we had snorkeled and it was a bunch of fun!

This week we opted to simply build sand-castles and lounge on the beach. The beach-house was on the more secluded beaches so; there weren't a lot of people out here. Natalie was scowling as we made our way towards the white sand, turquoise watered beach. Natalie had this hate for the humidity here. You could always hear her grumbling and snarling some complaint about the humidity.

"Everything pisses you off." I commented resisting the urge to roll my eyes.

Kuma was trotting at my side looking happy to be outside. I always found her outside on the porch enjoying the cool breezes. I could see out-lines of the marked nests on our beach and I wondered if any would hatch soon. These were marked as soon as we arrived here and were due any day now.

"True," She responded with an amused snort, "But the humidity pisses me off the most."

This time I roll my eyes, "I'm surprised when something didn't piss you off." My tone was heavy with sarcasm.

Natalie shots me a glare as we begin to take shelter in some delicious shade. Kuma is out running into the water with excitement and chasing seagulls. Natalie begins rubbing on sun-screen and I watch her—like always—with amusement, "You do know that we can't get sun-burn, right?" I reminded again.
