Virgil was the last of his brothers to finish high school and didn't have anyone to talk to. He would always hang out on the roof of the school. Nobody noticed him so that takes away the worry of being bullied.

On Thursday, during lunch, Virgil leaned on the railing of the roof and started to sing a song. It was called Waving Through A Window by Evan Hansen.

I've learned to slam on the brake
Before I even turn the key
Before I make the mistake
Before I lead with the worst of me

Give them no reason to stare
No slipping up if you slip away
So I got nothing to share
No, I got nothing to say

Step out, step out of the sun
If you keep getting burned
Step out, step out of the sun
Because you've learned, because you've learned

On the outside, always looking in
Will I ever be more than I've always been?
'Cause I'm tap, tap, tapping on the glass
I'm waving through a window
I try to speak, but nobody can hear
So I wait around for an answer to appear
While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass
I'm waving through a window, oh
Can anybody see, is anybody waving back at me?

We start with stars in our eyes
We start believing that we belong
But every sun doesn't rise
And no one tells you where you went wrong

Step out, step out of the sun
If you keep getting burned
Step out, step out of the sun
Because you've learned, because you've learned

On the outside, always looking in
Will I ever be more than I've always been?
'Cause I'm tap, tap, tapping on the glass
Waving through a window
I try to speak, but nobody can hear
So I wait around for an answer to appear
While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass
Waving through a window, oh
Can anybody see, is anybody waving?

When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?
When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?
When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?
When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?
Did I even make a sound?
Did I even make a sound?
It's like I never made a sound
Will I ever make a sound?

On the outside, always looking in
Will I ever be more than I've always been?
'Cause I'm tap, tap, tapping on the glass
Waving through a window
I try to speak, but nobody can hear
So I wait around for an answer to appear
While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass
Waving through a window, oh
Can anybody see, is anybody waving back at me? (Ooh)

Is anybody waving?
Waving, waving, whoa-oh, whoa-oh-oh-oh

Y/n's POV

My friends left me for the "perfect prince" Roman.

Why did I have to be friends with girls again?

I head to the roof, realizing no one else knew me. But as I walked up the stairs, I hear soft singing. It was a song that sounded familiar but I just knew part of the lyrics. (Who else does that?)

I open the door slowly and quietly, going off to the side.

Don't see me, don't hear me, don't you DARE see me

He barely notices, to busy singing and looking up to the sky. I soon realize that he is the youngest brother of the Sanders and is Roman's brother. I scoff and cover my mouth at the end, hoping he didn't hear me. He fortunately didn't hear and finished his song.

I cleared my throat and he turns around staring wide eyed at me.

"I-I'm sorry, if I uh disturbed you, you can have the uh roof" I say not knowing why I stuttered.

"No, it's alright" as he says that, I stand beside him, leaning on the railing.

"The sky is beautiful, isn't it not"

"It truly is, can I ask you a question"

"Go ahead"

"I don't usually do this but you give me a boast of courage, would you like to see the f/m (favorite movie) with me?" he asks rubbing the back of his neck.

"Alright, as long as you pay" I say smirking.

"Urghhhh fine"
