Tori Phoenix was abducted by space pirates at a young age and later rescued by her adoptive brother Rocket.
Peter Quill was abducted by Yondu Udonta and grew up as a Ravager.
Both are from Terra, and maybe both of them need each other.

They were all back on the Milano, sitting in a circle. Peter and Tori told everyone what the plan was.
"You call that "figured it out"? We're gonna rob the guys who just beat us senseless" Rocket said
"Oh, you want to talk about senseless? How about trying to save us by blowing us up?" Peter said
"We were only gonna blow you up if they didn't turn you over!"
"And how on earth were they gonna turn us over when you only gave them a count of five?"
"Well we didn't have time to work out the minutiae of the plan. This is what we get for acting altruistically!"
"I am Groot"
"Don't call us ungrateful" Tori said
"What's important now is we get the Ravagers' army to help us save Xandar" Gamora said
"So we can give the Stone to Yondu who's just gonna sell to somebody even worse?" Rocket said
"We'll figure that part out later" Peter said
"It's important that we stop Ronan" Tori said
"How?" Rocket asked
"I have a plan" Peter said
"You've got a plan?"
"Yes"
"First of all, you're copying me from when I said I had a plan"
"Rocket, don't act like you own that sentence because you don't" Tori said
"Well, I don't believe he has a plan" Rocket said
"I have part of a plan!" Peter said
"What percentage of a plan do you have?" Drax asked
"You don't get to ask questions after the nonsense you pulled on Knowhere" Gamora said
"I just saved Quill and Phoenix" Drax said
"We've already established that you destroying the ship that we're on is not saving us" Peter said
"When did we establish it?"
"Like three seconds ago!"
"I wasn't listening, I was thinking of something else"
"She's right, you don't get an opinion. What percentage?" Rocket asked
"I don't know, twelve percent" Peter said
"Twelve percent?" Rocket let out a laugh.
"That's a fake laugh"
"It's real. That is the most real, authentic, hysterical laugh of my entire life because that is not a plan"
"It's barely a concept" Gamora said
"You're taking their side?" Peter said
"I am Groot"
"Groot has a point. It is better than eleven percent" Tori said.
"Thank you, Groot. Thank you, Tori. See? Groot and Tori are the only ones who have a clue" Peter said. At that moment, a leaf grew on Groot's shoulder and he proceeded to eat it. "Guys. Come on. Yondu is gonna be here in two seconds. He expects to hear this big plan of ours. I need your help. I look around at us, you know what I see? Losers. I mean, like, folks who have lost stuff. And we have. Man, we have. All of us. Our homes, our families, normal lives. And, usually, life takes more than it gives, but not today. Today, it's given us something. It has given us a chance"
"To do what?" Drax asked
"To give a shit. For once, not run away. I, for one, am not gonna stand by and watch as Ronan wipes out billions of innocent lives" Peter said
"But, Quill, stopping Ronan, it's impossible. You're asking us to die" Rocket said
"Yeah, I guess I am" Peter said. Tori stood up first.
"Peter, I'm willing to give up my life to save the billions of other lives that are out there. If I'm gonna die, I want it to be doing something that means well" she said.
"Quill. I have lived most my life surrounded by my enemies" Gamora said and rose to her feet. " I will be grateful to die among my friends"
"You are an honorable man, Quill. I will fight beside you. And in the end, see my wife and daughter again" Drax said when he stood up.
"I am Groot" Everyone looked at Rocket who finally gave in.
"Oh, what the hell. I don't got that long a lifespan, anyway" Rocket said and the stood. "Now I'm standing. You all happy? We're all standing up now. Bunch of jackasses, standing in a circle"

Since it was Peter and Tori who suggested they take back the stone from Ronan, they were the ones presenting the plan. The a-hole heroes dressed themselves in Ravager gear.
"The stone reacts to anything organic. The bigger the target, the bigger the power surge" Tori said
"All Ronan's gotta do is touch the stone to the planet's surface and zap. All plants, animals, Nova Corps" Peter said
"Everything will die"
"Ronan does not make the surface. Rocket and Tori will lead a team to blow a hole in the Dark Aster's starboard hull. Then, our craft and Yondu's will enter"
"Won't there be hundreds of Sakaaran soldiers inside?" Kraglin asked
"I think of Sakaaran as paper people" Drax said. Kraglin smiled and gave a friendly punch to Drax's arm, but Drax gave Kraglin a look like he was going to hit him.
"Once they know we're on board, Ronan will isolate himself behind impenetrable security doors on deck. Which Gamora can disable by dismantling the power source" Tori continued
"We'll make it to the flight deck, and I'll use the Hadron Enforcer to kill Ronan" Peter said
"Once Ronan is dead, we will retrieve the stone. Use the devices Gamora is giving you to contain it. If you touch it, it will kill you"
"I'll contact one of the Nova officers who arrested us. Hopefully, they'll believe we're there to help"
"There's one more thing we need to complete the plan. That guy's eye..." Rocket said
"No you don't Rocket" Tori said
"No, seriously, I need it! It's important to me" Rocket said

They were approaching closer to Ronan's fleet. Rocket and Tori were getting ready to leave with a fleet of Ravagers.
"Tori, you be careful out there" Rocket said
"I'm a big girl. I can take care of myself" Tori said. Rocket climbed into his ship and Tori was just about to get into hers, when a voice called for her. It was Peter.
"Peter, what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be with the others?"
"I just wanted to wish you luck before we left, and I was kind of hoping I could steal a good luck ki---"
"Tori, let's get moving!" Rocket said
"Alright! Peter, you remember when you asked if you could have a kiss? I promise, if we get through this, I will give you your kiss" Tori said
"Or you could just give it to me now" Peter said
"Sorry. You'll have to earn it" Tori said, before climbing into her ship. Rocket and Tori left, leading a fleet of Ravager's behind them.
