Tori Phoenix was abducted by space pirates at a young age and later rescued by her adoptive brother Rocket.
Peter Quill was abducted by Yondu Udonta and grew up as a Ravager.
Both are from Terra, and maybe both of them need each other.

Peter and Tori were inside Yondu's ship. Peter was laying on top of her, still holding her. Tori coughed a little bit, trying to catch her breath and then looked at Peter. He began stroking her cheek.
"What happened?"
"I saw you out there. I don't know what came over me, but I couldn't let you die. I found something inside of myself. Something incredibly heroic. I mean, not to brag, but objectively..." Peter said.
"Where is the orb?" Tori asked
"It's...well, they got the orb" Peter said. A door opened and Yondu's men entered.
"Welcome home Peter" Kraglin said

Back on Knowhere, Groot rescued Drax while Rocket was freaking about Tori and Gamora was trying to calm him.
"I don't know why you didn't do anything to try and save her in the first place. She is your sister" Gamora said
"Why did you give her the frickin' orb?" Rocket said
"For safety. I knew they'd be after me but I didn't want them to get the orb either. Your sister was the only one I trusted to keep it safe" Gamora said
"Well, it doesn't matter now, does it? Blasted idiot. They're all idiots! Quill just got himself captured!" Rocket turned to Drax. "None of this ever would have happened if you didn't try to single-handedly take on a frickin' army! My sister would still be here!"
"You're right. I was a fool. All the anger, all the rage. It's just to cover my loss, and now because of me, you have lost one of your own" Drax said
"Oh, boo-hoo-hoo. "My wife and child are dead" " Rocket said. Groot let out a gasp. "Oh, I don't care if it's mean! Everybody's got dead people! That's no excuse to get everybody else dead along the way! Come on, Groot. Ronan has the stone. The only chance we got is to get to the other side of the universe as fast as we can and maybe, just maybe, we'll be able to live full lives before that whack-job ever gets there. I just hope Tori will be able to take care of herself"
"I am Groot"
"Save them? How?" Rocket said
"I am Groot"
"I know she's our sister and I know Quill is one of the only friends we've ever had, but there's an army of ravagers around them, and only two of us" Rocket said.
"No, there's three. Quill and Phoenix are my friends too, and I can tell how much you care about your sister. We will get her back safe" Gamora said. Drax stood up.
"Four" he said. Rocket groaned and started kicking a patch of grass.
"Aw! You're making me beat up grass!"

Back on Yondu's ship, Peter was being held by Yondu's men as Yondu beat him up.
"You betrayed me! Steal my money!"
"Stop it! Leave him alone!" Tori pleaded
"When I picked you up as a kid, these boys wanted to eat you. They ain't never tasted Terran before. I saved your life!" Youndu said
"Oh, will you shut up about that? God! Twenty years, you've been throwing that in my face, like it's some great thing, not eating me! Normal people don't even think about eating someone else! Much less that person having to be grateful for it! You abducted me, man. You stole me from my home and from my family" Peter said
"You don't give a damn about your Terra! You're scared because you're soft, in here. Here! Right here!" Yondu said
"Yondu! Listen to me! Ronan has something called an Infinity Stone" Tori said
"I know what he's got, girl" Yondu said
"Then you know we must get it back! He's gonna use it to wipe out Xandar. We have to warn them. Billions of people will perish" Tori said
"Is that what she's been filling your head with, boy? Sentiment?" Yondu slapped Peter. "Eating away your brain like maggots! That's it" Yondu whistled and his arrow flew to Peter's throat.
"No!" Tori shrieked
"Sorry, boy. But a captain's gotta teach his men what happens to those what cross him" Yondu said
"Captain's gotta teach stuff!" Kraglin said
"If you kill me now, you are saying goodbye to the biggest score you have ever seen" Peter said
"The Stone? I hope you got something better than that. Because ain't nobody stealing from Ronan" Yondu said
"We got a ringer"
"Is that right?"
"It's true. She knows everything there is to know about Ronan. His ships, his army" Tori said
"Hey, what do you say, Yondu, huh? Me and you, taking down a mark side-by-side, like the old days" Peter said. Yondu hesitated before removing the arrow from Peter, and laughing.
"Let him go! Oh! You always did have a scrote, boy! That's why I kept you on as a young'un" Yondu said. The ship shook. Everyone made there way to the bridge only to see the Milano outside.
"Attention, idiots. The lunatic on top of this craft is holding a Hadron Enforcer. It's a weapon of my own design" Rocket's voice echoed.
"What the hell?" Yondu said
"If you don't hand over our companions now, he's gonna tear your ship a new one. A very big new one!" Rocket said
"I ain't buyin' it" Yondu said
"He isn't kidding" Tori said
"I'm giving you to the count of five. Five, four, three..." Rocket said. Tori pressed a button so she could talk to Rocket.
"Rocket, don't you dare! Anyways, we're fine" she said
