"I needed to talk to her," He said softly.

I stole a glance at Brooke and met her eyes, "Ok, I'm gonna let you go this time, but stay away from her,"

I walked away from him after flipping him the bird. That was probably the most fun I had in a while. Tiana and Clayton turned to stare at me as I walked towards Brooke.

"Was that entertaining enough for you, dear?" I whispered into her ear, keeping our act up.

"Why yes, that was hilarious did you see his face," She giggled.

"Oh, I told him to stay away from you," I added.

"Ooh, what'cha guys talking about?" Tiana asked.

"Nothing," Brooke sighed.

"It's something. It's probably about Zac being in your bed," Tiana continued. Clayton just stood there and laughed. He wasn't talking much around Tiana, which is weird.

"Nope," I smiled mysteriously.

                                                                -------------------------------------

Brooke's POV

"Bring!" The bell had already rang for lunch and I'm the last person to leave class. Eh, no one would mind if I'm late for lunch.

"Brooke!" Someone called from behind me. Turning around I came face to face with Zac. No, not him. I thought Adam told him to stay away from me. Turning back around I walked away, but he grabbed my shoulders and pulled me into the janitors' closet.

"Well, what do you want now?" I said irritably.

"I need to talk," He sighed.

"Again? Haven't we talked enough," I asked moving towards the door, but he was blocking it.

"No, because you didn't forgive me yet," He said stubbornly.

"Well, if you want to talk. Why'd you tell me to say away from you? And now why are you back?" I asked.

He stumbled with his words for a moment, "Brooke, I just need you back as my best friend,"

"This is because of Adam isn't it?" I said narrowing my eyes. "You just want to talk to me because I'm dating Adam, right?"

"No!" He said angrily.

"Then why are you back?" I said angrily as my stomach grumbled, "Hurry up with your talk, I'm hungry,"

His face soften a bit and he said softly, "I just want to protect you,"

"So it does involve Adam," I frowned.

"Kinda," He sighed, "I just don't want you getting hurt again,"

"Well, I won't. Now I need to get some food," I said pushing him away from the door.

"I'm coming to your house today though," He sighed letting me pass.

"I'm going to Adam's house," I lied smoothly.

"Then I'll wait," He said.

"You have better things to do like make out with Shawna," I scoffed walking out of the closet and straight into Shawna. Oh poop.

"What are you doing in there?" She asked.

"Uh looking for the mop," I stuttered standing with my back against the door, hoping that Zac would  decide to stay in there for a little while longer.

"You aren't holding a mop," She said raising an eyebrow.

"It wasn't in there," I said a little too quickly.

"I've been in that closet many times, there's a mop," She said trying to get me out of the way.

"Why would you be in this closet?" I asked.

"None of your business," She spat. Suddenly, Zac tried to open the door. Oh no. "What was that?"

"Nothing, just the wind," I said swiftly.

"Is there someone in the closet?" She asked narrowing her eyes.

"No," I said as Zac tried to get the door open again.

"That was something," She said.

"Open the door!" Zac yelled.

"Who's in there?" Shawna yelled pushing me aside. Wow, for someone so skinny she sure is strong.

"Bye!" I cried as I ran away, but like Zac, she caught me.

She opened the door and Zac stepped out, "Zac?! Why are you in the closet that Brooke was in?"

Yay, she knows my name. Note the sarcasm. "Um I was looking for the dust pan," He lied.

"So you and Brooke decided to look for cleaning supplies together?" She asked angrily.

"Uh yea?" We said in unison.

"Don't f*cking lie to me Zac. What were you guys doing in there?" She cried.

"We were talking," He said sincerely with wide eyes.

"Bullsh*t!" She yelled tears threatening to spill.

"He's not lying," I said trying to help.

"Shut up! I told you to stay away from her! I gave you one last chance to stay away from her and you blew it! We're over," She yelled as she stormed away, "Oh, and I'm telling Adam,"

"Aren't you gonna go after her?" I asked Zac who was facing the ground.

"No," He said sadly.

"Why?" I asked hoping Adam isn't coming just yet.

"She'll just start cussing at me. She needs time to cool down," He shrugged.

"Sorry. This was my fault," I sighed.

"No, it was mine," He said shaking his head, "Go eat,"

"Um, ok," I said awkwardly as I walked away.

I walked towards our usual table and took out my lunch.

"Brooke, where were you?" Tiana asked.

"Uh, I was talking to Zac," I sighed.

"He was talking to you again? Do you want me to go talk to him?" Adam asked putting down his food.

"Nah, that's ok. Shawna just broke up with him," I said coolly.

"Again?" Clayton asked raising an eyebrow.

"What do you mean again?" I asked peering at him.

"They've been on and off. Shawna's clingy, jealous, and annoying so this time I hope he lets her go," Adam said rolling his eyes.
