Harry was surprised to find how different the Burrow was compared to Privet Drive. Everyone in it liked him, and with Amanda, extra explosions from Fred and George's room were considered normal.

They heard from Hogwarts one sunny morning about a week after coming to the Burrow.

Amanda followed Fred and George down the stairs after Harry and Ron. Ginny had knocked over a bowl, and Mr Weasley passed them their letters.

For a few minutes there was silence as they read their letters. It said to catch the train as usual and there was a list of books.

Fourth-year students will require:
The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 4 by Miranda Goshawk
Break with a Banshee by Gilderoy Lockhart
Gadding with Ghouls by Gilderoy Lockhart
Holidays with Hags by Gilderoy Lockhart
Travels with Trolls by Gilderoy Lockhart
Voyages with Vampires by Gilderoy Lockhart
Wanderings with Werewolves by Gilderoy Lockhart
Year with the Yeti by Gilderoy Lockhart

Amanda exclaimed, "Lockhart! Ugghhh."

She stared with disgust at the textbook list. The work inside was utter crap and she knew it.

"You've been told to get all the Lockhart books too!" Fred exclaimed as he looked at Ron's list, "The new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher must be a fan - bet it's a witch."

Mrs Weasley glared at Fred and he quickly busied himself with his breakfast. Amanda kicked him under the table.

"Why is it always the shin, woman?" Fred grumbled.

"Just to let you know, that doesn't count for all witches. I, for one, don't like Lockhart at all."

The two had missed the rest of the conversation, but listened in, just as Errol flew in. Ron exclaimed happily but muttered something under his breath and carried the owl to the table.

He ripped the letter away from him and let Amanda and Harry read with him.

Dear Ron, and Harry if you're there,
I hope everything went alright and that Harry is OK and that you didn't do anything illegal to get him out, Ron, because that would get Harry into trouble too, although I sense Amanda and the twins would have come up with whatever happened. I've been really worried and if Harry is alright, will you please let me know at once, but perhaps it would be better if you used a different owl, because I think another delivery might finish your one off.
I'm busy with school work, of course and we're going to London next Wednesday to buy my new books. Why don't we meet in Diagon Alley?
Let me know what's happening as soon as you can, love from Hermione.

Mrs Weasley agreed that they would go to Diagon Alley on Wednesday, and Amanda offered Ron to take Ember, as he had to reply to Hermione.

Five minutes later, Harry, Ron, Fred, George and Amanda were walking up the hill near the Burrow to play Quidditch. They wouldn't fly too high, and had to use different balls, but it would be fun anyway.

...

The next Wednesday Amanda woke up early, excited for their trip to Diagon Alley.

She quickly got dressed and walked down the stairs.

Half an hour later, Mrs Weasley bustled down the stairs happily and started to get breakfast ready. The Weasley children and Harry eventually trundled down the stairs, and they all ate a quick breakfast.

They walked over to the fireplace when they were ready, and Molly grabbed a flowerpot off the mantel and peered inside.

"We're running low, Arthur, we'll have to buy some more today." She sighed.
