Chapter 2: Jealous Boy

The next day, Princeton stayed as far away from me as possible. I cared, but not as much as I thought I would. Hey, his loss. Since it was Friday, we decided to go to the basketball game later on that night. Once we got there and found somewhere to sit, Roc decided to sit in front of me and lean back between my legs with his arms resting on them. Princeton did not look happy but who cares? The entire game he kept on looking at us and he barely talked to anybody. In a way I felt bad but at the same time I didn’t because I tried to get him to see that I really wanted to be with him. But Roc still hadn’t come clean about liking me so it wasn’t even a big deal.

We all went to my house after the game and my friends Melissa and Drea were there too. Ray Ray and Drea are brother and sister. This was an every weekend thing. We hang out somewhere Friday, come back to my house, and chill for the rest of the weekend. We were only 15, but our parents either aren’t ever home, or just don’t care what we do. The boys wanted to play the xbox but us girls were too tired for any of that so we were just in my room talking.

Melissa- so who are you texting so much?

Me-Roc

Drea-for what? Hes right down stairs.

Me-lmao well he told me he had something to tell him and to come to the kitchen in 5 minutes.

Drea-hmm.. I wonder what that’s about..

Me-pssh you? So do I ! im not gonna lie, im starting to like him more.

Melissa- I think you should talk to him over Princeton anyways. Those girls throw themselves on that boy and he loves every second of it.

Me- yea youre right. His ass done with me now ever since I told him I liked him but I look at it as his loss…

We talked a little more  then I finally made my way downstairs. Roc was sitting there all calm. I actually was expecting him to be nervous but he wasn’t.

Me-so whats up?

Roc- so im pretty sure you already know I like you… and I really want us to be in a relationship one day. Im going to make it my business to take your mind off Princeton.

I smiled so hard and put my head down.

Roc- na, don’t hide it. I love to see you smile.

He flashed me those white ass teeth. It was pretty much safe to say that he’d truly stolen my heart. Next thing I knew, Princeton came around the corner. I guess he was surprised to see us in there talking and it was more than evident that he felt some type of way about it, especially since he sat at the table waiting for us to finish the conversation. We both just sat there looking at him like he was crazy until he finally said something.

Princeton- so what are yall talking about?

I stared at him in disbelief. Was he seriously asking this?

Me- why?

Princeton-pssh… nvm then

& he got up and left. He and roc just stared at each other in disbelief and then busted out laughing. And that wasn’t the last of Princeton trying to come in between us.

The next day

Roc wrote on my Facebook wall asking if I wanted to walk to Cold Stone with him and of course I said yea. I put my shoes on, and on the way out, Princeton stopped and asked me where was I going.

Me-umm, I’m about to meet Roc at Cold Stone.

He jumped up so fast when I said that.

Princeton- I’m coming too.

I sighed heavily. He couldn’t have been serious. I texted Drea to come out of her house. Hell , it didn’t really matter anymore who came. When we got there, Roc’s eyes got all wide. I pursed my lips, nudged my head over toward Jacob, and rolled my eyes. He just sighed. We all got our ice cream and sat down to eat it. We all ate in silence for a while until Princeton started drilling Roc & I.

Princeton-soo.. are yall going out?

Me- no.

You could see the worry on his face immediately fade and he was trying not to smile I saw Roc in the corner of my eye about to laugh. This boy was doing the most.

Princeton-So are yall talking like yall are about to go out?

Roc- Why are you asking all of these questions?

Drea-Yea, didn’t you walk out on Phyllicia when she tried to tell you how she felt.

She left him with the boo boo face. That was a question that he could barely answer but we were all surprised by his response.

Princeton- yea she did and now I’m trying to make sure they’re not talking so I can tell her that I feel the same.

We all looked at him stunned. Roc turned his whole head to see how I was looking and sighed with relief when he saw I was mad.

Me-so you mean to tell me, that you wait until you feel that Roc and I are starting something to tell me you feel the same way?

I started standing up and grabbing my belongings to walk out of cold stone.

Me-well too bad [pushing open the door] because we are going to be together.

I walked out of cold stone with Roc right behind me. We walked down the street in silence at first but then he stopped and asked me.

Roc- did you really mean that?

I looked at him dead in his eyes.

Me- yes. I always liked you a little too. & that night you gave me that advice, it made me like you that much more. Plus, I know you truly like me & you're not trying to play any games.

He just looked at me, grabbed my hand and we proceeded to walk to my house. Once we got there, we walked up my room to continue our talk.

Roc- So what are we going to do about prince?

Me- just let him be. The only way he will be entertained is if we pay him any mind.
Roc- sounds like a plan..

Me- I need you to do me a favor..

Roc-what's that?

Me- when yall go on tour with DIggy... Can you try & get the hook up for Drea?

Roc-yea I got you.
