Today is to pay tribute to translators,

whose work helps the world unite,

as well as bilingual, they are bicultural,

so they can understand what others say or write.

Translators play an important role in business,

by conveying information worldwide,

medical interpreters communicate between hospitals,

so proper health care they can provide.

International Translation Day is held annually on September 30th to celebrate the Feast of St Jerome, a Christian teacher, writer and translator, who lived between AD 347 and AD 420. He was fluent in Hebrew, Latin and Greek and became famous for his translation of the Bible, Old and the New Testament from Old Latin to a far superior form of  Latin that was spoken and written by most people at that time, this type of Latin is known as Vulgate Latin, meaning Latin of the people. This language was the first stages of evolving into modern languages such as Italian, Spanish and French. St Jerome is often considered the patron saint of translators.
