Between September 3rd and 13th in 1752,

you will find Britain has no history,

these days never existed,

but there is a good reason for this mystery.

Britain changed from the Julian Calendar,

to the more accurate Gregorian one,

but because they didn't align with each other,

some adjustments had to be done.

Until 1752 the calendar used in Britain was the Julian one which was not as accurate as the Gregorian one. When Britain decided to change over to the Gregorian calendar they found there was an 11 day difference them as the Julian years were slightly longer. To compensate for this when the change over happened at midnight on September 2nd 1752 the following day was called September 14th, the date then on the Gregorian calendar, so in that year September 3rd to September 13th never existed in Britain or its Colonies. Some people protested about this because they thought their lives had been made 11 days shorter. Britain were not the last country to change to the newer calendar, Russia waited until 1918 and Greece 1923 but by then 13 days had to be lost instead of the original 11 days.
