13. When I was your man

Start from the beginning

He held his glass mocking a toast but everyone sat there was too surprised to join in, nobody knew about their relationship and everyone was kind of touched by what Mark had said. Jack had his head on the table trying not to cry and awkwardly Mark just sat back down in his seat waiting for someone else to talk but the whole room was silent. Mark let out a few sobs but try to hide them, he knew he shouldn't have done that but he couldn't help himself.

Although it hurts
I'll be the first to say that I was wrong
Oh, I know I'm probably much too late
To try and apologize for my mistakes
But I just want you to know

The wife looked at Jack with glaring eyes as he went into to plant a small kiss on her lips, as if to show her, she was the one he loved but the female three her champagne all over him instead hissing sharply,
"Your ex and best friend is crying so instead of trying to kiss me go over and talk to him! He's important to you. I get that. Now go!" The male couldn't help but smile at his wife, she was right. Sharply he jumped up and made his way over to Mark nervously.
"Hey Mark mind if we speak somewhere else?" Jack asked and the redhead sighed and followed.

When they were out of the sight of all the guests Jack slapped Mark,
"That's for putting me in a position I obviously couldn't escape from." Then he pressed his lips against the redheads,
"And that's for what you said." The groom blushes lightly and wiped away Mark's tears and was away to speak when a voice interrupted them,
"Ah, forbidden love I use to be like that." A sliver haired female came into sight one that neither of the two recognised.
"Oh how rude of me you don't know who I am, I'm Levy call me Lev and I'll be happy to distract your wife while you two run into the sunset or whatever." A smirk spread across her lips as she saw the reaction of the two males.
"What? Anything for my fellow LGBTQA+ members," She grinned looking through a window into a different wedding. She sighed heavily before attracting her attention back to the two,
"So you in or what?"

"Mark I wish I could but I'm now a married man, I can't just leave Wiishu, you don't understand. I'm sorry." Those words stabbed through the redhead like a knife as the groom walked back into the wedding. The best man just stood there feeling his heart snap more more and more, tears spilled from his eyes.
He felt a hand on his shoulder and looked back and saw the sliver haired female with a soft sympathetic smile on her face,
"I understand what it's like - I'm in love with someone who's now married." She gestured to a sad looking female outside. Levy gave him a quick hug slipping something in his pocket before walking off muttering to Mark,
"You still have a chance - he still cares about you. You're lucky dickhead don't wear it out."

When she left he put his hand in his pocket and pulled out a card,
Good luck buster call me if you need advice - Levy

Mark with a heavy sigh walked back into the room but nobody paid any mind to him everyone was lost in there own conversations and the gamer was grateful for that.

I hope he buys you flowers
I hope he holds your hand
Give you all his hours
When he has the chance
Take you to every party
'Cause I remember how much you loved to dance
Do all the things I should have done
When I was your man
Do all the things I should have done

Jack refused to speak to Mark for the rest of the wedding afraid he would break down and start crying, he couldn't let the gamer see he still had feelings for him not when he had a wife. Wiishu however knew that something was wrong with her husband and tried her best while dancing to get him to tell her,
"Seán what's wrong? And don't lie and tell me there's nothing." He didn't say anything but planted a kiss on the side of her face. The bride frowned annoyed but allowed him to do it. Meanwhile Mark was speaking to Wade and Bob finally telling them the truth.

"We always kind of knew Mark," Bob chuckled giving his friend a squeeze. Wade nodded but couldn't bring himself to say anything to his friend scared of making him cry. The gamer left and went back to his hotel room deciding he couldn't make through the whole wedding, it was too much.

The photo album for earlier that day sat on the bed, he tossed it into his suitcase and threw himself onto the bed before sending a text to Levy informing the girl that he'd left the wedding. Her reply seemed annoyed but tried to convince him to come back, only she couldn't so instead she opted to leave him alone in peace.

When I was your man

That night there was a brash knock on Mark's hotel room, he opened the door to find Jack with his eyes bloodshot and his hair messy.
"Wiishu doesn't know I'm here but... I'm sorry Mark... I just had to see you and say I'm sorry about today," He greeted.
"Hello to you too." The redhead allowed the groom to enter.

"I'm sorry for breaking your heart Mark. I do love you but we can't be together you know that but for tonight maybe we can pretend my wife doesn't have to know," Seán whispered pressing his lips against Mark's running his hand through his hair. The gamer pushed Jack away from him,
"No J- Seán I do love you but this is wrong. I'm sorry go live your life with Wiishu."

Mark and Jack after that night only ever crossed paths at meet ups but ignored each other, both males truly broken but they couldn't act on their feelings. Not when one was married, Mark sighed as he saw Seán again.

"I love you... I hope you're happy."
