Chapter II - It continues

Napapikit ako ng mariin at kinuha ulit ang cellphone ko. Not again!

From: Caleb

Can I call you? Please?

Aish, what now!?

*RIIIINGGG*

Nagring bigla ang phone ko. Oh gosh, tumatawag na s'ya! Pinabayaan ko nalang yun magring ng magring.

Nakahinga ako ng maluwag nang huminto na yung ring. Kinuha ko ang phone ko. He left a voicemail.

"H-Hey, Regina.. Sorry kung makulit ako. I just really wanna talk to you. S-So please.. Call me back. I love you so much and I can't live without you.."

That broke my heart. His voice... It was shaking. He was crying right now. Gosh, I feel terrible! He was so broken at wala s'yang kaalam-alam na hindi naman alam ni Regina na tinetext at tinatawagan pala s'ya ni Caleb. Aish, what is this mess? Ayokong sumingit sa relasyon nila!

KINABUKASAN...

Dali-dali akong pumasok sa school at lumapit kela Harmony at Mary.

"Girl, break na daw sila Caleb at Regina? Pinagkakalat ni Regina ngayon eh. Parang ang saya pa n'ya na nagbreak sila." Sabi ni Mary.

"This is so messed up," I said. They looked at me, confused. "Last night, h-he texted me and I just feel guilty. He left a voicemail since I didn't answer his call because I was panicking. He..he was crying. Nagmamakaawa s'ya na balikan s'ya ni Regina. Little did he know na hindi naman si Regina yung tinetext at kinocontact n'ya. Gosh."

"He's trying to call you? That's great!" Kunot-noo akong napalingon kay Harmony na ngiting-ngiti.

"Duh, Harmony? Are you out of your freaking mind? It was..bad! Worse than I expected!"

"Look, Brynn, you're overreacting. It was just for fun." Mary said.

"For fun!? But that wasn't fun! Gosh, it's Caleb, you guys. CA-LEB. Yung lalaking matagal ko nang pinapangarap! And now, he's crying on the phone, thinking he sent those messages to his ex-girlfriend but he's not. He is sending them to a complete stranger. So yeah, that's sooo fun." I said, sarcastically. Seriously, niloloko ko s'ya eh. He's in so much pain right now.

"Brynn, this is your chance. Answer his phone calls and talk to him." Harmony.

"Gosh, it sounds so easy when you say it. Oo nga, makikilala n'ya ako but in a bad way. And even if I answer his calls, he probably won't even talk to me. He wants to talk to Regina, not me. Wag n'yo na nga akong pilitin kay Caleb. Kontento na ako sa crush lang kahit di n'ya ko kilala."

"We're just helping, Brynn. We ---"

"If you really wanna help, stop pushing me to do things I don't wanna do. That's the last thing I want." I said then left. I'm done.

BREAK TIME...

Nakaupo ako sa bench dito sa park ng school namin. I'm eating my sandwich here. I am not gonna eat inside the cafeteria. I'm not gonna sit with Mary and Harmony.

Biglang dumaan sa harap ko ang R Squad, gosh they're so gorgeous. Lalo na si Regina.

Lahat ng tao nakatingin sakanila at napapahinto sa ginagawa sa tuwing nakikita sila. Everyone wants to be friends with them.

*BUZZ* *BUZZ*

From: Caleb

Regina.. Hindi mo ako tinawagan kagabi. Siguro wala ka na ngang pakealam sakin. Please.. If you still care about me, pumunta ka sa rooftop.

Napakunot ang noo ko. Rooftop? As in rooftoo dito sa school? Anong ginagawa n'ya do'n?

Hindi ko pinansin ang text n'ya at nagpatuloy nalang sa pagkain.

Dapat lang siguro na hindi ako pumunta sa rooftop. I mean, he's not asking me to come there. He's asking Regina, not me. So bakit ako pupunta? He's probably just gonna beg her to come back to him.

After about ten minutes... Ewan ko ba pero parang bumilis bigla ang tibok ng puso ko.

Caleb...

Bigla akong napatayo sa bench at napahawak sa puso ko. Bakit parang bigla akong kinakabahan?

The next thing I know, tumatakbo na ako, nagmamadali sa pag-akyat ng hagdan. And then, nasa pinakataas na ako ng school namin. Nasa harap ko na ang pinto ng rooftop.

Pinihit ko na ang doorknob at pumasok ako sa loob.

It all happened really fast. The next thing that happened, I was screaming...

"NOOOOOO!"
