I spied the date on the invitations; the party was to be heled 3 days from now. As I stood in the dining room, looking around, I thought over what I would need, I had never really considered anything like this before, so I had to really think about what I would need. I had the shoes already; I needed a dress, jewelry, a bag. As I formed the mental list in my head, I went in search of a bag. Knowing I had an appointment with Mikey that evening, I hurried to find everything and go get a dress, and get my new tattoo.

When I set out with the shoes tucked neatly into my bag, I considered the dress I should get. They had a pale turquoise bottom, but the shoe itself was black and gold. As I walked I figured that a plain black dress would match well, and a turquoise handbag to match the bottoms.

I had been looking all day, and was running out of time before I had to meet Mikey. So as I made it into the shop, I was also running out of hope for finding a dress, though I had found a gift for Rita, and the small bag that encased the earrings I had purchased was tucked in snuggly with my shoes. I stood in the shop utterly overwhelmed by the sheer number of dresses I could see. A middle aged woman appeared out of nowhere as I stood gazing at the intricate beading of one dress. "Can I help you miss?" I turned to her, snapping out of my daze,
"err, yes, I have to go to a party in a few days," I reached up to take off my hat, and felt the edge of my shirt rise with my arm. "So, err, I was looking for a dress to wear" I saw the lady's eyes drop down to where my shirt had revealed my tattoo, then up to my short cropped hair, and then a slight grimace appeared on her face
"certainly, I'll get Carly to come and help you" she turned and walked away from me.

Not long later a younger lady with blonde wavy hair pinned into perfection, wearing tall heels, and a shimmery little dress bounced over to me a happy smile on her face
"prudence said you were looking for a dress," I nodded,
"err, yes, it's a formal, and I have shoes already" I pulled the shoes out of my bag and showed them to her. At the sight of them I thought I could see duel come out of her mouth, as her eyes glittered. It took her a moment to compose herself, but then she was off pulling out dresses left right and center as we discussed what I wanted from the dress. Finally she stuffed me into a changing room to try them all on, with the instruction to show her any that I wasn't sure on.

I narrowed it down to 3, and then showed her, and she loved them all, being absolutely no help what so ever. I stood for a while pondering the choices, they all covered my scars and tattoos, and they were all black, some had beading on and others lace. Carly suddenly jumped up, and ran off shouting over her shoulder not to go anywhere. Eventually she came back baring a long black dress. I frowned, but took it anyway.
"Now it's a bit less covered up, but I think you will make it work" she shouted to me. I slipped it on and turned to the mirror.
"The dress is lovely" I shouted out to her, and I could hear her jumping around in victory "but I can't wear it" I could hear the frown in her voice when she said
"why not" I opened the door and she smiled widely, then frowned "you have got legs for days" she grinned, you have to get this, I won't take no for an answer" I sighed and turned around so she could see the disaster that was my back. She gasped, and then recovered herself "that's not a problem darling, that's what we have shawls for" she grinned and then handed me a shawl to match, and turquoise bag to match the shoes, along with a long golden cuff designed to clasp around my bicep. It was a dragon that wound round 4 times, with black gems placed delicately along its intricate body. As I put everything on, she turned me to face the mirror.

The dress was beautiful it had a high neck, and no sleeves, there was a long split up one leg, and it was otherwise plane. Once it had been finished; I turned to find that all the marks had been covered with the shawl and the jewelry. Everything matched perfectly and I was over the moon to discover that I didn't look half bad with everything in place. As I looked up, I noticed that Carly was frowning at my thigh where there was a tattoo peeping out, she tilted her head to one side as though she was about to say something but I got in there before her "I'm going to cover that up," tracing my fingers over the markings on my leg, she smiled and reached out for me placing her hands over my shoulders,
"okay, so are you buying this one?" she asked all the eagerness back in her voice. I took a moment, considering my options, and then nodded once. She bounced around and pulled me into a hug, then let go, and hustled me back into the changing room "hurry and take it off, so you can buy it before you change your mind"
