Chapter Nineteen

Lena was awaken by the sound of her alarm clock. She turned it off and got off bed. Nakasanayan niya na na i-set ang alarm clock for one week. So she wasn't surprise to hear it kahit pa hindi na niya yon in-on kagabi.

Kagabi..

Wala na si Seth sa tabi niya paggising niya. Right. Bakit ba siya aasa na naroon pa ito di ba? It's not like she was his girlfriend.

After seem like a thousand sigh, naghilamos na siya at nagsuklay. She guess, she will be absent for today. Wala siyang ganang pumasok. Wala siyang ganang lumabas ng bahay. She guess, she will just sit around and do paperworks to occupy herself. Ayaw niya munang makipaghalubilo kahit kanino. Though, she texted Megan. Nangako pa naman siya rito na tutulong siya sa wedding preparations nito. Well,, maybe things aren't just meant to happen even if she will it.

She got out of her room to get the papers she needs to recheck and read as well. She decided na din to get herself a glass of milk and on her way to the kitchen, namangha na lang siya nang may makita siyang food na nakaset sa table.. Fried rice and sunny side-up egg. May smiley sa egg using ketchup. Lumapit siya sa table and saw a message pinned under the plate.

It says:

"Some food to lighten you my sunshine."

Napangiti na lang siya while reading the message. It was so Seth. Nung sila pa, when he made her breakfast, laging ganun ang ginagawa nito sa ketchup. He was so thoughtful but she doubted him.

Ang tanga ko.

She was so stupid to let go of someone like Seth.

She was so stupid to fall for someone like Adam.

Hindi yata siya deserving na kainin ang breakfast na niluto ni Seth.

Inipit niya uli sa ilalim ng plato ang message at tiningnan kung sino ang nag-door bell. She peeped and saw her brother.

"Hi, sis!" He greeted as soon as she opened the door.

Hindi niya ito pinapasok pero lumusot ito sa gilid niya para makapasok. Wala na siyang nagawa kundi hayaan na lamang ito. "What are you doing here, Riley?" crossed arms na tanong niya.

"Well, first thing first. I want to make it clear, it was not my own will to go here, okay? Dad asks me to. Second thing, he told me to get you ready for the party tonight. He also told me to---"

She cut him in. "What party? What are you saying?"

"Party? As in ----" He danced the waltz. "Wala sa mountains?"

"I am not kidding with you, okay?"

"Easy." He walked to her kitchen while talking. Hindi pa man alam niya na kung anong mangyayari. This toddler-mind of a brother she had would see Seth's note for her. "Pumunta ka raw sa party ng mga Araneta. It's for---."

Natigilan ito nang mapalingon sa mesa. "Whoa! Wait a minute." Lumapit ito sa table. As much as Lena wanted to grab the paper he was holding, hinayaan niya na lang. Bakit niya itatago kay Riley ang message ni Seth di ba?

"Seth cooked breakfast for you?" he looked confused.

"Well, yes... Why? Masama?"
