Shauna and Stacy are in a fight for some reason or another - I think because they called each other bitches behind the other one’s back, and then the other one found out. It’s nothing big, and it will blow over, but today everyone was saying they were going to fight so it was fun. [Fun for whom?]

I’m not on either side - I am closer with Stacy, but I don’t have a problem with Shauna.

Today at lunch, they managed to sit at the same table as usual, but they said not one kind word to each other. At the end of lunch, the teachers let us go outside for ten minutes, and so they had a verbal fight there. People were getting bored with watching them because I guess they were expecting a fist fight.

So I yelled across the circle to Scott, “Come on, Scott, I’ll take you!” He smiled and said, “Oh, yeah, come on!” So we started fake-fighting and it was fun. Everyone was laughing and cheering and everything was a blur.

Suddenly someone gasped loudly and there was an uneasy hush. I straightened up and looked where everyone was staring, and there was Shauna, sprawled on the ground. Stacy had a half-smug, half-surprised look on her face, and it was obvious she had pushed Shauna.

Slow grins spread across all the boys’ faces - this was going to be a chick fight! Shauna stood up, wiped herself off, and stared at Stacy. What followed was just a bunch of slapping and curses, and everyone looked kind of disappointed. [How gross that I referred to it as “a chick fight” without a second thought.]
