I wish I was an expert at drawing
That I could sketch you in lovely detail.
I wish that I was an expert jeweler
And I could weave metals into anything your heart desired.
I wish I was an expert photographer
That I could capture you in a way no one has.
But I'm not so great at those things
And people have done them before
They have given you everything
I want to give you more.
I wish I was an expert painter
That I could depict you in an epic way.
I wish I was an expert musician
And with you I could play.
I wish I was an expert singer
To wow you with my golden voice.
But I'm not so great at those things
And people have done them before
They have given you everything
How can I give you more?
I wish I was an expert storyteller
You would always be my star.
I wish I was an expert traveler
To whisk you new places near and far.
I wish I was an expert poet
So I could express just how you make me feel.
But I'm not so great at those things
And people have done them before
They have given you everything
Is there anything more?
But for you I will doodle, finger paint and hum.
For you I will try most anything.
And the one more thing I'll give, you see
Is my open heart, here on my sleeve.
