This is a sad one :( but I love this song. Listen to it while you read.

Climb the stairs to your apartment, just to see you holding him.

As Ellington climbed up the stairs to his and Rydel's shared apartment, he couldn't help but smile. He hadn't seen her in over a week, and had decided to surprise her by coming home early. He had went to visit his grandparents in Wisconsin, and had told Rydel he would be home in two weeks rather than the week and a half he had actually stayed. He began unlocking the door, and when he opened it finally, he was shocked by the sight. Rydel was sitting on their couch, leaning against another man. It didn't look like a platonic relationship.

"Rydel?" Ellington says, almost whispers, not yet putting the pieces together.

"Oh, Ellington! Hi!" Rydel says as she jumps away from the boy, smiling at Ellington.

Before Ellington could respond, the other boy got up and left, leaving Rydel and Ellington alone.

You try to tell me that it's nothing, so I keep coming back again.

"Rydel, who was he?" Ellington asks, his voice shaking.

"He was nobody. Trust me, he's just a friend." Rydel says, squeezing his hand reassuringly.

Instead of arguing, Ellington simply nods. He sleeps in their bed alone that night.

You're look right in my eyes, and I know that you're lying when you say that you're mine and there's nobody else

"Rydel, we've been having this issue a lot lately." Ellington says as he sighs, putting his head in his hands.

"Ellington, you're my one and only, ok? I'd never cheat on you." Rydel says, smiling gently at him.

He knew she was lying; her eyes always showed it. But he just nodded like he always did, and let it slide.

But after all this time I can't stop from loving you

He didn't know what to do anymore. Rydel was clearly cheating on him. But he couldn't leave her. He loved her too much.

You know we can't be friends, I guess this is how it ends?

"Rydel, you're cheating on me." Ellington says blankly, staring his girlfriend in the eyes.

"Ellington, I'm not cheating on you!" Rydel screams in reply, stepping towards him.

"But you are. Having other guys here. Hanging out with other guys. I'm tired of letting it slide, Rydel. We're done."

"So after three years this is how it ends, huh? We can't even try to fix it? You know we won't be able to stay friends." Rydel says, an angry look on her face.

"Maybe you shouldn't have cheated on me."

And finally, he walks away.

Just a short little thing. I'm actually beginning to enjoy writing these song fics, even if they're sad. I now have a joint account with R5_Ready_Set_Rock101 if any of you wanted to know that info. We're working on a story called Check Yes, Juliet which should be posted soon. We're currently working on chapter one, and once we get the A/N done then the prologue should be up. The account is Rydellingtons_Babes so go follow us there and bye
