Garroth's POV

I could have sworn I saw someone in the forest. Just this morning, I got up even earlier than usual. Brian and Dante were still on night shift, which ends at six o'clock if that gives you an idea of how early that is. Truthfully, I don't know why Laurence asked Dante to take the night shift for him tonight, but he did and it's none of my business to ask why. But as I walked outside, I looked and I was sure I saw someone watching me from the forest. I started running towards them, but they ran away from me. I chased them until I got to Tsumetai Kokoro Lake. Then I decided that I needed to start my guard duties soon, and I didn't want to be late. As I was walking back to the village, I ran into Aphmau.
"W-What are you doing out here?" I stammered.
"I was looking for you. I went through the whole village, but you weren't there. I asked Brian where you were and he said he saw you run this way. Why are you out here?" She asked sweetly.
Not wanting to worry her, I replied, "Nothing, I was just taking a walk. Why were you looking for me?"
"Well, yesterday I promised that I would take Malachi and Levin to the docks, and they really wanted you to come, so I wanted to know if you wanted to take a break from your guard stuff and come to the docks with us today. I've already talked to Dale so he will take your duties today. The boys are at home waiting for me to come back with your answer."
"Oh, well, sure, I can come, I just need to get ready." I replied.
"I know, so do I, plus I need to help Malachi and Levin with their sunblock. We don't want them burning."

-----About Half An Hour Later-----

We were on our way down to the docks, when I saw the same person in the forest again, but I didn't want to scare Aphmau or the kids, so I brushed it off.

We spent the morning building sandcastles too close to the ocean, and trying to build a barrier big enough to keep the waves out before the waves knocked them down. Aphmau had packed a delicious picnic lunch of sandwiches, with ice cream for dessert.
"Wow, even your P-B and J sandwiches taste like they were made by angels." I stated, then thinking, I added, "Maybe because they were."
"It's kinda hard to mess up P-B and J, cuz if you forget about them, they won't start a fire, unlike that steak. I really don't know what it's beef was with me." She giggled. This caused all four of us to burst into laughter over her pun. Well, not Levin. He was just laughing because we were laughing. I don't think he even got the joke.

After lunch, it was finally warm enough to go swimming. We wanted to make swimming even more fun though, so we put Levin and Malachi in life jackets, got onto the boat, and sailed off. Once we were out far enough, we stopped the ship, and jumped into the water. We were still able to see the docks, but we were far enough out to swim in peace. Malachi laughed as he splashed water all over the place, and Levin was much more careful getting down. Aphmau helped him into the water, and he clung to his mother like he would die if he let go. Of course, Aphmau would never let him go if there was a risk of getting hurt. But she pried Levin from herself and taught him how to float on his back with his life jacket. After a while, Malachi and I were racing laps around the ship and Aphmau was splashing in the water with Levin, and we were all having a good time. Looking over to the docks, I saw the same person that I saw in the forest several times earlier, blinking, I looked and they were gone. But Laurance was standing there, frantically waving at me.
"What does Laurance want?" Aphmau asked, causing me to scream and slip under the water for a second. I came up and a giggling Apmau said, "Are you okay? I didn't mean to scare you."
"I'm fine." I replied, "And I don't know what Laurance wants."
"Should we go back? He looks concerned about something."
"Sure, we can go back, if you want..."
"Let's go back."
And we got into the boat and started heading back. Once we hit shore Laurance ran up to me panting.
"Garroth...No questions...come...NOW!"
"Okay, okay, I'm on my way. Will you be okay on your own?" I asked, turning to Aphmau.
"I'll be fine. It's about time I take Malachi and Levin to Zoey, and then get ready for seven."
"Okay, see you then." I said, giving her and appreciative smile before she walked off.
"What's going on at seven?" Laurance asked me after Aphmau had gone.
"I, am taking Aphmau, on a date." I replied.
"Wow, really? You didn't chicken out again? That's awesome! But I really need to talk to you."
"What's up?"
"I saw Zane. He was on the docks before I came and I saw him in the forest earlier. I know you did too, because I saw you run after him."
"What?! That was Zane? I would've recognized him! Who I saw was a girl!" I stammered.
"He tried to change his appearance, and honestly, I don't know how you fell for it. It's awful. But he's trying to go by Zanerina. I think he/she is having an identity crisis." Laurance forced a smile.
"What did you do?"
"I chased him/her off."
"It's a boy, Laurance, Zane is a boy. But good job."
"Do you want me to keep guard on your date?" He asked as a mischievous smile formed on his face.
"No, you just want to eavesdrop, I can handle it. Do you really think Zane would attack in broad daylight? No, I didn't think so, so you better not go spying."
"Ugh, fine."
Little did I know, our date wasn't going to be what I expected.

A/N--- Dun dun dun! What will happen next? You'll just have to wait and see, or send me a private massage for spoilers, although the next chapter will be out later today, or tomorrow. So you won't have to wait for long.

Also, I will be doing a thing where I ask you questions, every time I post a chapter. Today's question is...

If you could add a character, describe what they would be like!

My character would be named Luna, and she would be Garroth's long lost twin sister who can alter memories. And that's how nobody could remember her. She would have silver hair, and her favourite colour is red.

Give me your answers in the comments! I am curious to know who adds characters in their minds like I do.
