Lillie gasped. " Wait, so you're saying Red and Blue used to be even closer than they are now?!"

I nodded gloomily. " Mhm. Go ask Leaf for the details. I want to go mope in peace."

Lillie blinked at me, concerned. "Mope? W-Why are you moping?"

" Because I have three reports due today. And I haven't started."

Lillie blinked. " What are they on?"

" Water bills, how to get more money in Kanto, and why people should pay taxes."

Lillie blinked. " Wait. They don't pay taxes?"

I walked over to a couch and sank into it. " What do you think?"

Lillie bit her lip. " I should've guessed... Considering how you're always working to earn money whatsoever without getting help from anyone."

I groaned and buried my face into the couch cushion. "Exactly. I can't even expense a Poké Ball without someone acting like I’m bankrupting the region."

Lillie quietly sat beside me, thoughtful. "...You know, I could help you with one of them."

I cracked one eye open, squinting at her. "...Which one?"

"The water bill one. I used to help Mom with Aether Foundation logistics, remember? I know stuff about conservation and region-wide utilities."

"...You’re hired."

She smiled sheepishly. "Was I not already?"

I rolled over and looked at the ceiling dramatically. "Lillie, if you help me survive these reports, I swear I will name my next Pokémon after you."

She gasped. "Really?!"

"Yup. Even if it’s a Gyarados."

Lillie paused. "...Please don’t make me a Gyarados."

"No promises."
