" Hehehe!" Lacey exclaimed when I stepped into the Pokemon Center. " I've been waiting for you!"
Her Granbull nodded.
" Oh!" I exclaimed. " I am so sorry for making you wait! Forgive me!"
Lacey shook her head. " Don't sweat it! Anyway, without further ado, question two!"
She gestured to her Granbull. " Granbull are quite popular with young women this is because they make super reliable bodyguards. True or false?"
" FALSE!" I shouted.
" Ding ding ding! They're popular because of their contrast between personality and appearance!"
" Wow!" I exclaimed. " That's so cool!"
Lacey nodded. " Hey, thanks for listening! Here, take this as an appreciation token!"
She handed me an Old Amber, and I grinned. " Thanks! Hey, look, Aerodactyl! This is how I found you!"
My Aerodactyl, who was behind me, let out a screech.
I turned to Lacey with an arched brow. " But where'd you find this anyway?"
Lacey grinned. " Some cave!"
I turned the Old Amber over in my hand, feeling the weight of ancient history resting in my palm. "Some cave, huh?" I repeated, giving Lacey a skeptical look. "That's pretty vague."
Lacey giggled. "What can I say? I like to keep things mysterious." She winked before crossing her arms. "Besides, it's more fun if you go on your own treasure hunts, right?"
I couldn't argue with that logic, but something about the way she said it made me curious. "Was it near Pewter?" I asked. "Or more like... Mt. Moon?"
Lacey shrugged dramatically. "Who knows? Maybe it's a secret I'll take to my grave!"
Granbull let out a low grumble, almost as if it was rolling its eyes at its trainer's antics.
Aerodactyl flapped its wings, peering down at the Old Amber with what I swore was interest. Maybe it recognized the fossil somehow.
"Well," I said, slipping the fossil into my bag, "I appreciate it. Maybe I'll take it to the lab and see if there's another Aerodactyl just waiting to be revived."
Lacey grinned. "Ooh, wouldn't that be something? You could have a whole squad of prehistoric terror!" She gasped dramatically. "You could call them the Fossil Fighters!"
I laughed. "I'll consider it."
With that, Lacey gave me a playful salute and skipped off, Granbull following close behind.
Hilbert, who had been watching the exchange in silence, finally spoke up. "You sure meet the weirdest people."
I smirked. "Says the guy who travels with me."
