Damian's POV:
"He has her.." I whispered into the earpiece, my throat was caught as I struggled to formulate the words.
"What are you talking about?!" Franky's voice echoed back "Hey?! Answer me!" But I couldn't, my heart began to beat fast as I stared at Reed grabbing onto Anya's hair. Her face scrunched up in pain
"Let her go, you bastard!" I yelled as I began running towards Reed's room. Franky kept barking orders to retreat, Yuri ran behind me telling me to stop, but I couldn't stop. I wouldn't stop.
Anya struggled against Reed's grip, her eyes wide with fear, but she wasn't crying. She never cried. Even now, she was fighting. That only made my rage burn hotter.
Reed turned at the sound of my voice, his lips curling into a smirk. "Ah, so the little Desmond pup came running in like a hero," he sneered. "How predictable."
I lunged at him without thinking, but before I could reach him, the guard grabbed me, twisting my arms behind my back. A sharp pain shot up my shoulder, but I barely felt it.
"Damian!" Anya shouted, her voice trembling as she thrashed against her captor's grip.
"Let her go!" I growled, struggling against the guard's hold.
Reed chuckled, walking up to me and gripping my chin roughly, forcing me to meet his cold, calculating gaze. "You still don't get it, do you?" he mused. "This isn't about you. It never was."
His hand released me with a shove, and he turned back to Anya, gripping her face in his fingers. My stomach twisted as she flinched but kept glaring at him.
"You're braver than I expected," Reed muttered, tilting her chin up. "But bravery won't save you, little one."
I fought harder against the guard's grip, my breath ragged. I had to do something. I had to—
A gunshot rang through the air.
The guard restraining me suddenly slumped forward, releasing me as he hit the ground. I stumbled back, my ears ringing, and turned just in time to see Loid lowering his smoking gun, his face a mask of pure fury.
"I'm here. Let them go"
Reed began laughing. It wasn't the laugh of someone who had lost control—it was calculated, amused, as if this was all part of his plan.
Loid's grip on his gun tightened. "I won't ask again. Let them go."
Reed wiped the blood from his lip, his smirk never wavering. "You think you're in control here, Twilight?" He gestured around the room, and suddenly, red laser dots flickered to life, trained on all of us. Snipers.
My breath caught in my throat. Loid's eyes darted around, calculating. Yuri shifted slightly, adjusting his stance, but even he knew we were pinned.
Reed sighed dramatically. "You really are predictable. Always playing the hero." He stepped forward, flicking his knife between his fingers. "But this isn't your usual mission, is it? You've got too much to lose. A wife. A daughter. Oh, and let's not forget the little ones growing inside her."
Loid's jaw clenched, his fury barely restrained. "Where is Yor?"
Reed motioned for his men. Within seconds, Yor was brought in, her dress covered in blood as she was brought forward. She was unconscious, but even then she looked weak. Pale. Anya gasped as she looked at her mothers state.
"What did you do to her?!" Loid exclaimed as he attempted to make his way towards Yor. Suddenly, Reed pulled out his gun holding it towards Yor's temple. Loid stopped on his tracks, his breathing uneven as he clenched his jaw in frustration.
"Not another step Twilight, you'll ruin all the fun.. After all I do have a deal for you," Reed sneered as he began walking towards Anya again. My stomach dropped at the sight before me. He had Loid's wife and daughter at gunpoint..
"What do you want?" Loud asked, getting more frustrated by the minute.
Reed's smile grew. "Unlike you, I'm a much more fair guy. You see, you tend to just kill and capture people without one ounce of consideration for others," Reed stated as he began to empty out his bullets onto his palm. He grabbed one and put it back inside his gun, twisting the chamber. "But that's not very fair now is it?"
"What are you talking about?" Loid asked.
Reed scoffed" Don't act like you don't know! We were making headway with Operation Eclipse and you ruined everything!"
Loid's eyes narrowed, but his face remained a mask of composure. "Operation Eclipse?" His voice was calm, almost disinterested. "You're still clinging to that dead-end operation? It's over, Reed."
Reed's grin faltered, replaced with something darker. "Over? Hardly. You think just because you exposed a few of our assets that I would abandon everything I've worked for? You're delusional, Twilight."
Loid's posture stiffened slightly at the mention of his alias, but he didn't break eye contact with Reed. "You've got it wrong. I didn't ruin anything. You were always on the losing side of this game. You just never realized it."
Reed's expression twisted into a snarl. "You think you're untouchable because you've had a few lucky breaks, huh?" His gaze flicked to the guards, who were silently observing. "You think you can just walk in here and fix everything with that righteous smile of yours? I'm done playing by your rules, Twilight."
I could feel the tension in the air, the barely contained anger simmering beneath every word exchanged. Loid's calm, calculated demeanor only seemed to make Reed angrier.
"You're a failure," Reed hissed, his grip tightening around the knife in his hand. "And your little family's going to suffer for it."
Reed then made his way towards Yor, placing the gun next to her temple.
"So, I'm giving you the option to choose Twilight." Reed stated humorously as he began taunting his gun
"Give us back Subject 007 and no harm will be done to your precious wife and babies or we keep your precious Anya but we kill your wife and babies"
