Damian's POV:
Damn Becky, she knew what she was doing when she made that dumb bet. Regardless of the outcome, part of me was a bit pleased to see how Anya's and I costume turned out. It was difficult each day. Had I known the last time we hugged was going to be the absolute last, I would've never let her go...
As she helped me tie the strings on my wrist, I couldn't help myself from looking at her natural beauty, which was further enhanced with the various accessories that came with her princess outfit. Her hands trembled a bit as she proceeded to tie the stubborn strings on my wrist, I had to fight the urge to grab her small delicate hands into my own. I missed her so much. I promised her I would be there for her no matter what, but I would be lying if I didn't say it hurt me not being able to show her just how much I truly love her.
"Come on you guys! The party is about to begin!" Becky yelled out, bringing me back to reality. I shook the thoughts away and followed Anya downstairs towards the living room. The group stared at us, the room filled with an uncomfortable silence. Finally Becky's screech broke the much needed suffocating environment.
"Oh my god!! Anya, you look like a real princess!" Becky yelled out as she proceeded to walk towards Anya. The two girls began talking about their costumes leaving us behind, I couldn't help but sigh at the long night that awaited us. I felt a hand press against my shoulder, Sebastian gave me a small smile.
"Maybe you'll get that kiss at midnight," Ewen joked, causing Emile to smack him behind the head.
"Shut up Ewen, you don't know how Damian feels, you've never even had a girlfriend yourself," Emile replied. Ewen was rubbing the back of his head as he scoffed.
"Yeah well that changes tonight! I'll be sure to get a girl's number one way or another, these girls are too easy-"
Sebastian chuckled as he smacked Ewen behind the head. Ewen looked at him dumbfounded as he rubbed his head once more.
"What the hell! what was that for Bash?" Ewen asked annoyed.
"For being such a dog" Sebastian shrugged his shoulders and began walking away.
"Get it because you're also dressed as a werewolf," Emile snickered, causing Ewen to roll his eyes at him.
"Whatever, I'm just saying Damian, I know you're like head over heels in love with Anya, but don't you think you should try and move on, I mean what if she doesn't feel the same way about you? Or what if she begins to like someone else?" Ewen asked.
I stood there for a moment, his words replaying in my head. I never really thought about her not reciprocating my feelings, rather I was under the impression that I could simply just make her fall in love with me again. What would I do?
"Ewen, don't be stupid. Of course Anya will remember Damian. Enough about that, go fix your fur, I can see the real dog coming out of that costume," Emile replied as he gave Ewen another quick smack behind the head. Ewen scoffed and left to the restroom.
"What if he's right?" I asked softly, "What if Anya doesn't remember me... what if she decides to like someone else?"
Emile shook his head as he walked towards me. He wrapped his bandaged arm around my shoulder as he led me towards the room where everyone was. Guests were beginning to arrive now, many also dressed in various costumes. In the corner of the room, I could see Anya talking to Millie and Georgie. Her radiant smile shined across the room.
"There's no way she won't remember you. It just takes time, if it's true love, they always come back. But let's not think about that tonight, lets have some fun," Emile said softly as he patted my back and then he proceeded to walk towards Becky and Sebastian. They all looked at me as they motioned me to join them. Sighing, I decided to give in and join the group.
