Anya's POV:
The walk home felt never ending, I felt betrayed by every single person in my life. Worst of all, the one person I needed to confront was gone. How would I ever contact him? Will I ever see him again? In the middle of all these thoughts I came to the realization, I really miss him...
Damian has always been by my side. In the hospital, he was there almost daily helping me through my sessions. He was by my side in school all the time, showing me around the building, having lunch with me when everyone else was busy. We went out with the others, yet he always stuck by my side in case I needed something. He'd make sure I'd get home safe, something he didn't need to do, but he always did. This whole time, I've been nothing but selfish. This probably only hurted him more. The day he asked for a hug, I thought nothing of it. But it must have felt like his whole world came crashing down...
"Anya, do you want some hot cocoa?" Mama asked as we walked into our apartment. I love my parents, I really do, but I don't think I have the energy to be in the same room as them right now.
"No thanks mama, I'm going to lay down, I'm tired," I said giving them a small smile. Mama nodded her head giving me a small kiss on my forehead. I walked into my room, Bond following behind me. I closed the door and fell to the ground, tears streaming down my face. Bond whimpered as he laid his head on my lap, his warmth comforting me against the cold tiles pressed against my back.
"I wish I could see him Bond..." I whispered to him as I began petting his head. Bond's head perked up as he looked at me in my eyes. He stood in that position for a couple seconds, almost as if he was trying to communicate with me...
After a couple seconds he looked at me in a confused manner,
"What is it, Bond?" I asked, he shook his head and proceeded to drop his head back onto my lap. I felt a series of vibrations come from my pocket. It was probably Becky calling me, I wasn't really in the mood to talk to her though. Without even looking at the caller ID I picked up the phone sighing at yet another individual who betrayed me.
"I don't want to talk right now Becky, I'll call you later-"
"Wait," A deeper voice replied, confused, I remove the phone from my ear and checked the screen. My eyes widened at the name displayed.
Damain.
"Anya? Are you still there?" He asked. My eyes began watering as I heard him.
"I'm her-e" I sniffled out. Bond had removed himself from my lap, he then moved towards my window, I wasn't too focused on him right now. I needed to talk to Damian.
"Where are you? Where did you go? Why did you... why did you leave me?" I asked, sobbing at this point. I could hear him laugh at the other side of the call. What was so funny? Did he think it was a joke?
"Why are you laughing?!" I asked angrily.
"Because Bond is doing a funny expression," He replied. Bond was still at the window, wagging his tail and tilting his head, looking outside. I hadn't noticed before, but Bond was acting like he knew something I didn't.
"Bond?" I called, and he turned to look at me, almost as if confirming Damian's words. What was going on?
"I'm right outside, Anya," Damian said softly through the phone.
My heart skipped a beat. Outside? He came back? I shot up from the floor and rushed to the window. My breath caught in my throat as I peered down into the dark street below. There he was—Damian Desmond, standing by the gate to our apartment complex, looking up at my window with a small, nervous smile.
