Damain's POV:
"Hey Anya-" Before I could finish, she ended up leaving the room. Was it something I said? I thought she didn't want to be in my group, she seemed to have gotten along with Sebastian just fine. As I continue to ponder on why Anya left, Becky walked in with a shocked expression.
"What did you do Desmond? why did Anya leave?" She asked pointing an accusatory finger to my chest. I removed her hand from me, I hated when people touched my chest.
"I don't know why that girl left, why don't you go ask her yourself. Better yet why don't you ask Sebastian, since they seem to be getting more along." I replied coldly.
"Damian, you know I thought you were smarter than this. You and Anya are both so naive, its so obvious that there's something else besides friendship with the both of you, you portray yourself like an asshole because you don't want people to come closer to you, but I see the way you treat Anya, I know thats the real you. Im going to ask you again what did you say to Anya?" Becky asked annoyed.
"You don't know anything, all she asked was who was in my group and I told her it was Alina and her friends," I replied. Becky's mouth went wide open. "What?" I ask confused.
"Alina always used to bully Anya, besides having to deal with your annoying ass, she had to deal with Alina's behavior too. How could you be so inconsiderate?" Becky puffed clearly annoyed.
"Becky how is this my fault? She didnt ask to join my group, she seemed pretty comfortable choosing Sebastian," I barked back crossing my arms annoyed, what is her problem? Anya didn't want to be with me in the first place.
"Well I don't know what to tell you, but if you're just going be playing with Anya's feelings, I suggest you leave her alone from now on." Becky walked out of the classroom leaving me dumbfounded. Did I do something to hurt Anya? Maybe I should apologize just in case.
I walked towards the lunchroom preparing myself mentally to apologize to Anya, what do I even say? "I don't know why you're mad, but sorry?" it sounds so stupid, maybe I'll know what to say when I see her. I turned the corner trying to find where Anya usually sits. I finally spot a pink haired girl, she was with Sebastian. Great, I have to apologize in front of him? As if on cue, he quickly glanced my way, before dirverting his attention back to Anya. He began to smile as he put his spoon close to her mouth.
"Say ahhh," Anya quickly complied as she laughed. she seems so happy with him? What's the point in even apologizing, I decided to leave it at that and walked away towards the library.
I couldn't concentrate on my studies. Becky's words kept echoing in my head, and the image of Anya happily interacting with Sebastian was burned into my mind. Was I really that inconsiderate? Was I unintentionally hurting Anya? I closed my books with a sigh and leaned back in my chair, staring at the ceiling of the library. The quiet hum of the room did nothing to calm my racing thoughts. Maybe Becky was right. Maybe I should just leave Anya alone.
But then, why did the thought of distancing myself from her feel so wrong?
Just then, I heard the library door creak open. I glanced over and hoping to see a little pink haired girl, but instead I saw a taller blonde with blue eyes. Alina . She was looking around until her eyes landed on me. She smiled and walked over.
"Hey, Damian," she said, her voice soft. "Can I sit here?"
I nodded, feeling a lump in my throat. I really wanted to be left alone, but maybe she needs help with our camping trip "Of course.
Alina sat down across from me, placing her books on the table. Her presence felt different—calm, composed, and confident. For a moment, we just sat there in silence, and I couldn't help but compare this to how it felt when Anya was around. Anya's energy was always bright and lively, something I found myself missing at that moment.
