Yor's POV:
"Good work Thorn Princess, your ability to assassinate those delinquents without a trace is unparalleled! We'll take care of the mess, you get home, we've had you here all day." Handler said.
I bowed respectfully, "Yes, of course! Thank you Handler. Have a great night!" I quickly made my way towards the WISE locker rooms. It has been over five years since I began working here. Over the course of my life, I was taught to believe that we were the victims in this war. I worked for the Shopkeeper for many years, eliminating his enemies. In the beginning I did it for my family, no mother, no father. Yuri was so young when mom passed away. I didn't want him to grow up without someone to take care of him.
I changed out of my uniform and into my regular clothes, my mind wandering back to those early days. I had no choice but to become strong, to do whatever it took to ensure Yuri's safety and future. The Shopkeeper provided me with the means to support my brother, but it came at a cost. I became the Thorn Princess, a name that struck fear into the hearts of our enemies. The Shopkeeper had his secrets as well. He kept something hidden for so long that changed my view from him.
As I looked at my reflection in the locker room mirror, I couldn't help but think about how much my life had changed since then. Joining WISE and creating a family with Loid and Anya gave me a new purpose, a chance to protect others without the same ruthless methods I once used. I am extremely grateful to Loid, he accepted me even knowing my complicated past. He accepted all my flaws, I couldn't help but fall in love with him. I want to be able to be a great wife to him, a great mother to Anya, but there are still those lingering thoughts in the back of my mind...
"Oh, Hello Mrs. Forger," a soft voice announced behind me. I turned around to see Agent Nightfall. Although I've met her as Fiona. We're not supposed to use our regular names here, but whenever we are alone, Fiona always refers to me as "Mrs. Forger"
"Hello, Agent Nightfall," I replied, trying to hide my surprise and maintain a professional demeanor. "Is there something you need?"
Fiona gave me a knowing smile. "I just finished my mission debrief and saw you here. Thought I'd say hello. It's not often we run into each other."
"Yes, it's been a while," I said, forcing a polite smile. Fiona's presence always made me a bit uneasy. She had a way of looking at me that seemed to pierce through my defenses.
Suddenly the phone began to ring. Fiona made her way towards the phone and picked it up.
"Hello, this is Nightfall.... Oh, Twilight, what can I do for you?" I turned to face her, did something happen to Loid? Or Anya?
"Oh, yes, she's right here, I will pass along the phone." Fiona looked at my direction and held the phone towards me. "It's Twilight, it seems he wants to speak to you" She said with an intense voice. I walked over to the phone and placed it closely to my ear.
"Loid? Is everything okay?" I ask
"Yor! Honey I'm so sorry to bother you after your mission, would you mind picking up some milk and eggs? I was going to go to the store, but Anya hasn't come home yet and she forgot her keys" Loid said. I chuckled at my husband.
"Of course, Loid. I'll pick them up on my way home," I replied, feeling a wave of relief wash over me.
"Thank you, Yor. I appreciate it. See you soon," Loid said, his voice warm and comforting.
I handed the phone back to Fiona, who was watching me with her usual intensity. "Just a simple request," I said, smiling. "I'll be heading out now."
"Take care, Mrs. Forger," Fiona said, her tone a mix of professionalism and something I couldn't quite place.
