Part 14: Destroy Tyranny

The retreating half of the strike group remanifested at the other end of the system, dispensing anti-thaumaturgic pods, which arrived at the exact same time as the defending other half of the strike group left to rejoin and form up. As the other half of the strike group rejoined, they all unleashed a missile barrage from every single turret-launcher / VLS system towards the CROS reinforcements.

As was somewhat expected by the NWU force, a decently sized portion of the missiles were shot down, but they still received a hit rate - or shit rate, as referred to by one of the controllers after the battle - of 91.256478%. Detection systems had also picked up the CROS were beginning to have less ill-equipped vessels, with far less ships having no guns or too few guns among other systems as compared to the start of the war, when the New World Union launched its two attacks.

About 30% of the CROS fleet remained, which was subject to more constant volleys of TMPNMs. A controller after the battle would state that 'there were so many flashes that it looked like some shit went supernova over there.' The missile barrage continued for a few minutes, and the flashes stopped. Detection systems only detected clouds of debris over there, and their commander contacted INTCOM. "INTCOM, mission is complete. They tried to ambush our group with another wave, but they got wiped." "Gotcha. RTB ASAP, over." "On it."

1st Thuian Intergalactic Fleet

The 1st Thuian Intergalactic Fleet, a New World Union intergalactic-level force formed from the 9347652nd Intergalactic Fleet of the 5234th Cluster fleet, is now actively sailing through the Yellow King's Highway claimed just a little while before, and are preparing for what will amount to possibly be the worst attack in all of CROS history. Ships are visible passing through automated machines that apply upgrades to them, aircraft also doing the same thing at a smaller scale. 

The plan is to overmatch the forces defending the CROS capital with overwhelmingly powerful precision strikes, and the first wave of bomber aircraft deployed from the Asteran homeworld itself are now passing along the main route of the Highway and along fabricated guide-like structures, accelerating the many types of aircraft as they pass by thaumaturgically enhancing fuel volatility. 

The Highway is obviously no longer the empty expanse it used to be, and is now filled with energy extraction infrastructure among other things, all operating alongside large defensive security gun batteries powerful enough to contend with the Highway's initial inhabitants on their own due to using their own tech and the whole area in general appears to be brimming with activity.

The bomber aircraft are about to set a new record for the 'First Wild Weasel Operation On Enemy Capital Performed Via Interdimensional Passage', about to arrive at CROS homeworld space. Due to their being deployed directly from Astera because of publicity requests, they technically deployed before the rest of the New World Union's forces. While they may have the honor to have the first shot fired, they will not be the first to have their shots land.

In the CROS home system, the New World Union's Biological Fighter craft activated their cloaking and breached the home planet's atmosphere. Five groups of fighters descended, and they formed back into one over parts of the planet already burning. These were the result of the heists and attacks committed by the Ace of Spades gang and partly by Enigma Corps PMC, as well as others.

Just like the Nighthawks of Helios III in February of 19491, the New World Union's Biological Fighters targeted the CROS' main communications hub, a massive structure jutting out of the surface city's skyline and breaching its clouds. Hundreds of missiles dispensed from the fighters' cells and covered the communications tower, which were blocked by a luminescent shield. The shield cracked however, and the fighters started receiving anti-air fire from the tower.
